Haul of stolen goods found at South Milford equestrian centre
9:47am Tuesday 16th November 2010
TWO men have been arrested after a gun, thousands of pounds and three curtain-sided lorry trailers loaded with stolen goods were found during a raid on a horse riding centre in North Yorkshire.
Officers executed a warrant at a house and equestrian centre in South Milford and found three lorries, one of which was laden with clothing, Champagne and electrical goods.
The other two contained flat screen TVs, freeview boxes and more clothing. The cash and firearm were found in the house.
The South Milford raid led officers to get a search warrant for a property in Low Moor, Bradford, where surveillance equipment, a computer, a laptop, a mobile phone and cash were seized.
A Bradford man, aged 34, and a South Milford man, aged 42, were arrested.
They were interviewed by detectives and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
DCI Fran Naughton, of West Yorkshire Polices economic crime unit, said the raids were carried out as part of an investigation into thefts of curtain-sided trailers.
We have been able to recover thousands of pounds worth of items which are believed to have been stolen. Investigations such as this are continuing all across the force and we would urge residents to report any suspicions they have about those who appear to be living way beyond their means.
Anyone who knows of suspected illegal activity should phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. North Yorkshire Police can be phoned on 0845 6060247.
