Half past six and it's dark, damp and chilly outside. I'm outside of a nice supper and have just list the fire and poured a glass of wine.

I really don't want to go out with the dogs who are looking at me, to sort the horses who are waiting at the gates!

Ah well, I suppose I'll get acclimatised to the dark... Oh, joy, the b&&&&y clocks go back at the end of the month, dark in the morning and in the evening. There's something to look forward to!

Ah, yes, the long months of winter await us.
I live in the NW corner of the USA. In the depths of winter it gets pitch dark by about 4:30, 5:00 pm. Argh!

However, with Daylight savings time, the summer dark doesn't come until 10:00 pm.

the change can be a bit rough.

Yes, Seattle is much like England, climate-wise. We know how to deal with gray and wet.

We had a late arriving summer, but once it hit (mid July) we had NO measureable rain for 85 days@! That is amazing for this climate. It meant I got a LOT of riding in this summer. But the ground got really dry and hard. Now, the rains have come and strangely, it feels just fine.

It's freezing up here tonight - was about 4 degress when I left the yard at 8pm - time to dig out the thermals! Even hardy coblet was switched into his 170gm rug tonight - I'm praying I don't need to buy an even heavier rug for him!!

It was really dark and foggy up here this morning - felt like proper winter!

Had to break ice in the water buckets on Sunday morning :( GO AWAY WINTER we haven't had summer yet!!!!

Ice!! OMG!!

We had a late arriving summer, but once it hit (mid July) we had NO measureable rain for 85 days@!

I think we had your rain as well then, this year!

I just got back from Phoenix, Arizona yesterday, where it was beautiful hot sun, so today's rain and cold has been a bump back down to earth!

Very similar here(Normandy,Fra,) to the American North West. I suppose I am getting used to it though. Orignally from SF in California and there really weren't the 4 seasons as in other places. This Autumn for us is a bit wet though. Normally Indian Summer is beautiful here; memories of weekend hacking out and then drinking wine in the sunshine and even eating outside. This year it's like living in a fishbowl...Not too cold as yet here.

Have started evening fires in the kitchen wood stove though...for the humidity...rr
