Fairly newish poster here.
Started coming onto this site more regularly since I got my first part loan.

Anyway, this probably seems like nothing to most horse owners but after riding my loan for the past 2 months - last night when I went to his field to get him, for the first time when I called his name he turned around and came straight to the gate to see me.

Normally, he ignored me and I had to go and get him.

This made me smile lots :)

Thats so lovely for you, I know exactly what you mean.
All my mares are 'indifferent' to most things but my 4 yo baby gelding is just so lovable. The sweetest thing is that no matter what Im doing in the yard he watches every move I make. He even moves to a back vent in his stable to peek at me round the back emptying the wheelbarrow. He nickers all the time and falls asleep the moment I cuddle him :inlove: Haha!

I love moments like that :) I'll never forget finding my boy sleeping one night, cuddling up with him in his stable, him putting his head in my lap and falling back asleep. Probably the happiest I've ever been. Keep enjoying the little things

I love things like that. My Part loan that I see three days a week wuffles hello to me now :) Its too often to be a co-incidence! The loveliest moment was when I came over and she was snoring flat out in her stable. She woke up enough to say Hello and then went straight back to sleep with me sitting beside her. I loved that she trusted me enough to do that!

The other day I went to see her, mucked her out and then went to watch friends at a show before returning to ride her. She was clearly unimpressed that I had abandoned her, refused to say hello and turned her backside on me and farted!!!

I certainly won't be doing that in a hurry again!!

Awww thats lovely OP, I love it when my nag whinnies at me, I think she can hear my footsteps so she always spots me before I see her, and everytime she does it, it makes me smile!

I love moments like that, Em bellows at when I get to the yard and no matter how mental my days been it always makes me smile. Also love the fact that when I've worked a night shift and she's having her post breakfast nap she's happy for me to sit down with her and very generously won't get up if I happen to nod off :-)

These stories have made me smile.
It's good to know my feelings might not be one sided ;)

When I put him back into the field, he walked straight back to the gate after I closed it. I gave him some goodbye cuddles, then walked away down the path. I turned back as I got further down, and he was still there watching me walk away.

I'm hoping it's a sign of good things to come.
