Any self respecting horse knows that purple flowers are out to get them.

It turns out that this includes purple dogs, too .

Today being so hot, the elderly JRT was quite lethargic. I came across a purple Cool Coat that we’d bought for him last year, and surprisingly he consented to keep it on. Normally he removes coats. This is one of those jackets that you immerse in water first, and then as the water evaporates, it cools the dog. All good there.

Until tea time for the horses. He pottered out with me as usual, the horses came over to the gate as usual, until they spotted him and wham, bedlam! I’m not sure that they recognised him as a dog at all. Much snorting, whipping round and high jinks later I was able to catch them in. The dog pottered on (well out of their way) quite oblivious of the havoc that he’d caused. By the time they’d finished their tea and snorted at him over their stable doors, they were beginning to recognise him and they went back out fairly calmly. Except for the senior mare, who’s known him for 15 years, who reserved him her special indignant glare.

No photos of the neds, as I was too busy hanging on, but here is the purple dog.

Ha ha that's so funny! My JRT has a red coat I put on when it's cold my horses snort at her as well if she is wandering around the yard, they get used to it after a while once they have seen her in it a few times

Ha, cute doggy-I have an exmoor, every new hat and coat I get has to be introduced! The funniest is the neighbouring cattle though on those rare occasions the pines get rain sheets or fly rugs on-much gawping and running away.

He's lovely. I had an even worse experience when I bought mine a tracksuit type thing. The horses all went for her in the field, I thought she was a goner as I couldn't chase all three off but she escaped under the electric fence. Outfit off and they went back to the usual ignoring her. Lesson learnt!

Mine freaked out at the hand held scanner when my vet checked him for a microchip once, I thought we would never get him off the roof.

OMG, that must have been terrifying. Thank goodness she had the sense to get out of the way.

That's because all dragons are purple, no wonder they're traumatised! 😆😆😆
Maybe so!
