Iv taken on a 17hh mare who was going to be pts due to being differcult. She's very differcult to handle in hand, rearing and generally no manners. She was walking bones and hobbled, tethered in a field. It's taking me 15/20 mins to get a headcoller on her in the stable and even when I turn her out she just turns around in small circles like she's still tethered. This morning she actually clicked and cantered about bucking and playing like a little foal, she's 10 yrs old but brought a tear to my eye watching her. She will have a perm home with me and I'm treating her as a long term project as iv got no history what so ever. Everytime I go near her head she shys away, closeing her eyes like she's expecting a beating.
My horse family is now complete.
Wish me luck. I'm gona need it

Was she being PTS because she is 'difficult' or 'dangerous'?

Any idea what makes her this way? Sounds like she enjoyed having turnout, would like to follow your progress with her do you have pictures, whats her name and breed?

She's ment to be a ex trotter that's all I know about her. She rears quite a lot in hand at the mo but is very early days and I'm wearing hat/body protector at all times when I'm handling her. Iv only got a phone so don't know how to post pics. She's eating her hay at night but won't eat any hard feed at all just sniffs it.
I know a lot off you will say this is complete crap but iv had good results before so I'm going to get a animal Reading done on her out off interest.

Wow. That sounds like an amazing job you are doing. So nice to hear of people doing this for horses. Im sure in time you will reep the benefits. Wish you the best of luck with her. Will keep an eye out to see your progess xxxx

Well done you for taking her on. :) I'm glad to hear she has a home for life and you are not just trying to make a quick buck outof a cheep/free horse. (I know to many people who try to do this :( ) Sounds like you are already making progress with her.
I know what you mean about the simpelist things bringing a tear to your eye. My current problem pony made me cry the first time he walked over to me in the field :) I've had lots of teary moments since then and people often think i'm mad when I tell them why i'm crying and it's over something so simple and something everyone else takes for granted.
My last pony was ment to be going for meat before I took her on and she turned out to be the best pony ever and my best friend for 12 years. It's so rewarding when they come right and the bond you will have after all you've been through together is amazing. :) I'm just hoping Horrid turns out to be even just 1/4 of the pony Lucy was.
I'll stop waffling on now. Good luck with your mare and keep us updated on your progress with her. :D

If you use bluetooth and transfer the pic from your phone to your computer then upload to photobucket you could put pics on that way, PM me if you want help. :)

Id get her teeth checked if she is reluctant to eat hard feed, in regards to the animal comunicator I think its a great idea, I had one out who could tell me my old boys life story and as I knew his history she was spot on with the info she gave, however with my youngster she couldnt tell me much at all.

Well done you have a kind heart and are sensible wearing protection.
You are not mad going to an AC at all; it can be really helpful - I have PMd you regarding this.
Good luck ;-)

Ah good luck !

I have had a rearer for 10 years now and you learn to get over it she only does it now when she is showing distaste or REALLY wants to away from something
