I've been kicked out of my yard and I'm stressing. Rant.

I've just been kicked off my yard.
My mum text the yard owner asking why my mare had been moved field without us knowing and why she had no water (the barrel was bone dry). Cue the YO to text back at *1 in the morning* with a incomprehensible spew of words (I think she might have been drinking).

Next morning, my mum text YO again asking what she said. YO replies with "Your pony was moved friday as keep getting out. Water filled then and saturday night. Ur bill on wednesday is 75. And can u poo pick both paddocks and remove ur pony from r property by weekend".

For first thing, my mare has never escaped her field, or even tried. Nor would she as her field had nice grass in it which would mean she wouldn't bother about anything. Second, it takes her two days to drink a barrel of water, not one night. The thing about both paddocks is also ridiculous due to the fact that the second paddock she is talking about was clean when my mare was moved the third time (been moved loads now). The pooh belongs to another livery's pony who doesn't have T/O (YO has too many horses for the grazing so many don't have grazing) but sneaked her pony in when Y/O was at show.

My mum asked her if we could have a longer notice (til the 5th latest) as getting a new yard in 5/6 days is ridiculous. Apparently, because we pay our livery bill monthly (when money goes in bank) it means she doesn't have to give us a notice.

She's really doing well with her current financial situation by kicking out one of her livery's, not to mention the fact I was working for her for free because she had no money and too many horses. All of them are knee deep in their own waste, haven't seen a farrier in months and the only feed they get is two flakes of hay a day.

Now I'm on a super mission to contact all the places we had viewed (were going to move anyway, but chose not) and ask them if they still have a place.

Has anyone else had a YO from hell kick them out on hardly any notice? I don't know what she'll do with my mare if I don't get her out but it won't be good.
 
I had 4 days to move as the yard we were on was repossessed and YO didn't tell us what was going on, we found out when the recievers seized the property. Very scary, very stressful.

I have always tried to leave places on good terms and it has paid off. I borrowed a lorry from a yard we left several years ago and went back to our previous yard on grass livery for now. Very, very grateful to both sets of people.

You'll find somewhere, even if it's only temporary until you find somewhere better. Good luck.
 
I would thank my lucky stars that I no longer had to put up with such terrible yard management and find somewhere else asap. Hopefully one of the places you had recently viewed has a space. Maybe your yo heard you'd been looking around and got annoyed (although obviously if this is the case her reaction is completely ridiculous). Good luck finding somewhere nicer for your mare :)
 
not sure if its any help but i decided to move my horse for the sake of my own sanity a few years ago, I drove round and knocked on doors and found the perfect solution within a week. You will enjoy your horse more without all the drama surrounding the stables if its as bad as you say.
 
I think I've found a yard, it seems perfect really!
It's closer to home, it has herd grazing, a XC course, a proper school (we've got a falling to bits 10x30 sand school), a walker and everything!

I'm going to see it Wednesday lunch time. I'm having more of a stress because I'm going to a convention from 28th-30th. But I might have to cancel it. But if we confirm that we'll be going to the yard we're going to see I can arrange for her to go on Thursday.

Fingers crossed it's a okay yard!

We didn't see the neglected horses at first.
She stashes them all away and doesn't let potential clients near the really bad stables. You only get to see the block of liverty stables and her show jumpers, because "those are just old unused stables".

We moved into the yard in October, saw the horses in mid-November and of course by that time all the yards are full up for the winter. We've been trying to find somewhere for ages but the only ones that have had spaces available are the bad ones.

I am currently biting someone's hand off for a viewing at a so far lovely yard now tho! :D

We hadn't mentioned anything about moving to her, because we never found anywhere serious. But no-doubt one of her 'pets' has over heard me and my mum talking about a yard and told her we've been viewing.

This is exactly what we did when we had to fetch our mare back from a farmer who rescued her after she walked out of a very poorly fenced field. We found a yard that we stayed out for more than 10 yrs until we bought our own place.

OP, If you pay monthly she should give you a month's notice from your next paydate but there isn't really any way to hold her to that. For your own peace of mind you need to get your horse out asap. Possibly if you can find her sober you can talk to her about staying until you do find somewhere. I should take comfort from the fact that actually your horse isn't a problem, the YO obviously has her own problems, which she will have to deal with herself - oh and I wouldn't be poo picking any more than normal either! And definitely not after you've found an alternative yard.
 
This is shocking to read... why didn't you report her sooner? Please report this yard to the BHS asap once you are out of harms way.......
 
I was given a month to get off my last yard, which was more than enough time to dick around looking at various yards and decide on one then another. I left within two weeks. I needed the push and should have left months prior to being chucked off. The place was falling down, the YO was quite frankly mad and his best mate was a convicted paedophile who was always there.

At the time, I was upset because it was a very sociable yard. Soon after, everyone bar one girl I knew left when the YO decided that no-one was allowed a big stable (they're now derelict) and the 17hhs were put in much smaller boxes.

I think you need the push by the sound of it. Fingers crossed that this yard you're looking at will be fabulous.
 
Under common law you need a months notice as you pay monthly. Next time make sure you get a contract as its much easier to sort things with a contract to rely on!
 
I would seriously delete this thread now! You are opening yourself, and more to the point your horse, to a world of trouble if what you are saying gets back to her. I assume you aren't very old, as YO contacts your Mum, sometimes everything is best not said on social media.
