will be free to a good home. I really want him to go somewhere that someone will have the time and energy to spend with him. I'm also going to have to give alot of time to Oscar now to get him better when he comes home.

So I've readvertised him today but will fully vet his new home. I just think I need to cut ties and stop clinging onto a horse that's never going to be what I need and I'm never going to be what he needs.

Feel quite harsh doing it but also better knowing that I've finally made the right decision by him.

Thanks all for listneing to my rambling posts, just need a bit of good luck now x

what kind of home are you looking for for him?

I know a couple of people who are looking for horses, and I can assure you they would be great homes....

Not really up to date with it all, but I wish you and both your boys the best of luck

HOWEVER

and I means this as advice to protect the pair of you

- please consider permanent loan as opposed to free to good home - if you're not expecting any money for him, it will at least ensure that he doesn't get passed from pillar to post which would be devastating for both of you

Someone who is competent and realises that he's giong to be a bit highly strung when he first arrives, rather than tacking him up and expecting him to be perfect on day two

At his other loan home he was perfect so think that it's his attachment to Oscar that's caused him to be a bit cheeky at his shortlived loan home. A few weeks and I know he'll be fine.

I'd rather someone has him for a few months, falls in love with him then takes responsibility for him....I've got to think about the long term here now and he needs to stay put somewhere

Oh I totally agree. So maybe advertise him as a permanent loan and then some months in when you are 100% sure they and he are happy, tell them you are happy to sign him over

Just I'm afraid I've heard horror stories of people taking advantage of "free to good homes"

And I'd hate to see you fall into that

I agree with what you're doing, BUT not the 'giving away' bit.

What if his new owner has financial difficulties and ends up putting him through market? How devastated would you be? It DOES happen... more often than you'd care to imagine.

Put him on a free permanant loan with a contract. If anything goes wrong then you have him back.

If you do not want him back or cannot have him back then do the right thing and sell him.

Charlie I agree that's why I'm giving him away. A blind horse with hock spavin is not worth any money. I will however make sure that he goes to a good home and let them have him for a month or so to make sure he settles first.

I'm afraid that by advertising him as 'free to a good home' you will attract the very sort of people you DON'T want. There are a lot of unscrupulous people out there that will say and do all the right things in order to get him and then he will be sent to the sales which for a horse with his problems will be disasterous

Gotta agree with Ice here, dont advertise him as "free"! I see what you are saying and want the best for him but if someone can get something for free, put it through the sales for £1000, they are laughing, and Ty's not!!

Defo stick with the permanent loan, with view to buy, they dont have to know you'll sign him over if you think they are suitable, after X amount of time!

Im sure miss/mrs right for ty ty is out there....... you'll find them soon xx

Yeah guess so, I know it's ridiculous but all this sh+t is making me ill....I'm just fed up of him being his own worst enemy!

I think the peeps who had him were a bit harsh to be fair, and obviously werent prepared to give him the time he needed....... I f i could afford my own, and was lighter I'd have him off ya!!

You've been through so much with him so I hope this reaches a good conclusion for you and Ty, I think he'll find a home easily, where have you advertised him? I would love to have him as well but I don't have the time or the money, he is a lovely horse and like you say, in the right home he will do really well.
Whats wrong with Oscar is he in hospital?
Good luck and take care xx

One woman wanted to view him at the home he's at but on reflection that could be a receipe for disaster. I think I'll bring him home Saturday morning then take him out for a long hack on Sunday and let him chill a bit.

My main problem and worry is the separation anxiety he suffers with Oscar. Do you tihnk that if Oscar is on box rest for 6 weeks that it will be the break apart they need?

There is a chance that I might get a hefty car allowance at work, and if that happened then I may, just may be able to keep both of them....

Sorry when I your post it sounded like you were going to advertise him free to a good home! It is clear that is not what you meant! Phew!

Like others have said before, just because the first one didnt work out doesnt mean you wont find smeone for him.

Good luck.

Hope Oscar is healing well too.

Poor Ty. Sorry PR - but I think that is an appalling thing to do. Who know's where he will end up.

Please sell him for an amount of money - don't just give him away.

Sorry, I suspect we'll fall out over this but I can't believe you are doing this to this wonderful little horse.

AM you're totally entitled to your opinion. I'm not going to let someone collect him and get rid. I will make sure he's right for them and vice versa (perm loan type arrangement) and then if it works, sign over for a nominal amount.
