Long time member, previously frequent poster and now more of a passive lurker until today when I feel like a little HHO support might help to quash my mounting nerves!!!
The short story is 'too much Pimms made me volunteer for something horsey and now sober I have to go through with it!!!!'
The full story is here > http://www.gifthorseeventing.co.uk/2016/06/polo-because-yolo.html
The medium length story is that I contacted a charity to see if they wanted players for their charity polo match, and they actually came back to me and said YES!!!
You must be thinking well what's the problem? Obviously if you volunteered you can play polo? well....yes and no.....I played 3 seasons back in my pony club days but that was 20 years ago!!!!!!
So in less than 3 weeks time I will find myself riding out onto the pitch, mallet in hand ready to chukka in front of a large paying crowd of picnicking spectators and with comedy tannoy commentary!!! I am FREAKING out a little!!!
I keep telling myself that this is a charity match and no-one is a proper polo player (normally 2 teams of jockeys and eventers) so polo skills are not expected but still I am getting a little nervous.
I have to say though my main and biggest fear is.........
HAVING TO WEAR WHITE JEANS!!!!!!

Any tips for riding a strange horse in a strange sport in front of tipsy onlookers and not ending up looking like a wally gratefully received!
Help! What have I got myself into????
