About some horses I saw today near me
Won't go into too many details as don't wanna drop myself in it but I will just say that they are very due for the farrier and I wanted to take one home there and then ( a very skinny very young tb type ) and feed him up! :(
I swear I would have if I had the money and space :(
Will be keeping an eye on them.
So sad as the youngster looks sad, disinterested and depressed :(

Ok thanks I thought maybe I should contact someone else although I know of ppl who have been reported to the rspca round here and had a visit x

They might get a visit, but probably nothing more. Have you seen your horse (I think it was!) this month? RSPCA went out to a frozen field with two well-rounded ponies and served a notice, because they had no hay (grass frozen), then returned in a few days to check they had food. Brilliant, exactly the right thing to do.
Same inspector then went to reports of a 13 odd hh pony LIVING in a horsetrailer- it was midday, and it hadn't been let out. Inspector didn't issue any notices, or say they would do a follow up visit (I don't think- don't have the article to hand!) and simply gave them some advice! How does that work?!

RSPCA Are as much use as a chocolate teapot. Please ring WHW.

As much use as a chocolate teapot, except they do things like this:

http://www.politics.co.uk/opinion-f...woman-given-life-ban-on-animals-after-abandon

And this:

http://www.politics.co.uk/opinion-f...men-jailed-for-sickening-campaign-of-wildlife

And this:

http://www.rspca.org.uk/media/news/story/-/article/horse_rescue_in_suffolk_Mar13

And these are the just a handful which have actually reached the press in the past month alone, nevermind the other hundreds of incidents per day and prosecutions that take place daily which don't reach the press.

But if you think the above are examples of the RSPCA being 'as useless as a chocolate teapot', then that's up to you.

Moomin, that story about the horse dangling over the cliff is so sad. :( Very moving, and a brave attempt to save the horse.

You might think me pedantic, but this sentence confused me. I wondered why you would ask the OP if she's seen her horse this month? If she has a horse, surely she would have seen it? Maybe you were suggesting she too is a neglectful owner... :p

Then it dawned. It's all in the punctuation. You don't mean "your horse" perhaps but "Your Horse", ie a magazine? :D:D

What a difference using punctuation makes. :D

*backs out of room expecting a backlash*

Haha, point taken- I've just been so busy working on my PhD, that I'm all punctuated out! :p

'Lets eat Grandma!.... Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives ;)

Its so frustrating as I want something to be done and hope it will be ( will call whw tomorrow, just looked up the number) but I want to see evidence that something has been done and I don't know if I will as I don't want to keep stopping at field for fear of being caught out but I want to make sure they are alright :(
Part of me thinks maybe I'm overeacting as they are just coming out of winter,a couple had headcollars on,got water+grass and also the 2 natives in there were a good weight but the others were skinny under winter coats+one in particular has very long feet :(
I'm going with my gut on this one tho
So wish I could take that one youngster home
He was very friendly+quiet but seemed a bit subdued and a bit zombie like if u will
I would expect him to be inquisitive, perhaps looking for treats,a bit spooky/skittish perhaps but he wasn't :(

It's always better to put a call in, if you're unsure.

If nothing else the feet have been neglected and I really feel that one in particular is far too skinny and its ( very long) hind legs didn't seem to be supporting him very well either, was like he was tucking them under himself?

I would prefer ten checks with no problems than to miss one and not call it in. Go for it and wait and see. I have had a visit over a 32 year old TB x. They were fine and checked what I was doing about her care. I had nothing to hide so no issue with it.

My experience is that the RSPCA are unlikely to be interested if horses are still standing and there isn't a TV camera about.

You'd be better contacting one of the horse charities.
