Grace did her first dressage competition around two months ago, and then after that we haven't been out competing as the judge's comments demoralised me really (nothing to do with the horse, just me talking to her because she felt she was going to ping at any minute - it was her first ever show of any kind!).

So I have been taking her for lessons, working on things that she is weak on, and finally got around to booking us in to some dressage competitions (just unaffiliated).

We are doing P4 at Crow Wood on Sunday 22nd April, and then P10 and P18 at Myerscough on Wednesday 25th April. How she reacts to the atmosphere and how she works will determine when we will affiliate...

Wish us luck!

Hopefully I will not get deposited... last time she felt like she was ready to explode at any second which was not a nice feeling, but I have done a lot more work on her since then so fingers crossed she will be concentrating a little more!

I have done so many elementarys on Hannah and never thought twice about it, but I have to admit the though of doing a prelim on Grace makes me a little nervous but I can't wait to go and show her off

Oooo, definitely not!

Grace's old owner gave her a magnesium supplment (MagCalm or something like that) because she needed to settle her when she went on box rest and it had the opposite effect. She was so wound up she stood shaking and sweating up. Vet said it was a reaction to the magnesium...

Thanks Bananaman... it is just so exciting when she gets there

I know I need to get some miles on her clock now, after all she will be six in May, but recently I have simply not had the time to get motivated. I would love to affiliate her some time in the summer, but I do not think she will be ready to be competing against horses that are consistently good.

Could you imagine

Although anything would have been better with how she was behaving tonight! She is so hard to ride when she has had a few days off, that is why I try to avoid giving her much time off!

Hate to say it but I miss that! I have slacked off madams food because she is out daily now, and today I had a sluggish horse

Rode for 20 mins, and it was so hot I dispensed with hat (in a new arena, not something I would usually do) and spent the whole time kicking

Maybe we can give half of Grace's OOMPH and attitude to P and both be happy
