ok, so HHO wouldn't let me use the word I was going to... (instead, insert inappropriate name for person of no fixed abode)

So, this morning, I got the boys in from a field that I have never in 25 years seen looking so green and lush and laminitis inducing, and left them in for an hour or so. I then decided as it wasn't too hot yet, but the roads were busy that I'd go and do some flatwork with Ron. Tom has to come too as he's a fairy who can't be on his own for half a second without screaming the place down, so he goes loose in the field with us, and generally ignores what we're doing.

So after a half hour of very satisfying, well balanced, sort of in an outline work from Ron he was lathered and I was... well, a little too warm. Aha thought I, a wash down is in order... then remembered that there is no water on the yard currently after my father's plumbing attempts have all gone awry (cue full bore water pressure escaping from failed pipe joint for 8 hours while they were on holiday and I was house sitting!) and not yet been fixed, so all the water for the shed, stables, and top field is off.

I untacked Ron, leaving them both in their least favourite field for 2 mins whilst I went to get a feed scoop and a sponge, and to change into my wellies. Headcollar on Ron then the three of us went down to the stream that runs through that field. Tom headed straight for his favourite scratching tree for some self-gratification (back scratching, obviously! what were you thinking?! ;)) and Ron walked happily into the stream. Then, this is where is went horribly wrong and (insert alternative name for person of no fixed abode!)ish... I actually washed him (minus shampoo) in the stream... and what's more... he enjoyed it! I couldn't flipping well get him out! I took his head collar off and he just stood there enjoying the cold water being flung at him! :D

Tom thought, after 10 mins, that this looked fun, and came to see what I was "feeding" Ron with the scoop, but when he realised it was just water and it wasn't being fed to anyone he scarpered sharpish!

another minute or so and I decided I'd leave Ron to his paddling and walked off, only to be followed by the pair of them as they knew full well they were staying in that field! There's enough grass in it, they just hate it, and are convinced there's nothing to eat, so spend half their time hanging over the gate to encourage us to move them, that they end up hungry and more convinced there's nothing to eat! silly ponies! :D

sorry, slightly rambling pointless post, but I enjoyed it, and it was nice not to have to clear up the yard after washing him off! :D

That has brought a wonderful mental image in my head  Would love to have seen it :D My girl hates water at the best of times so bath time is always a bit stressfull bless  Glad you had a nice time :D

Mums just told me that a she went to check on the bits this evening and couldn't find them... Cue heart attack... But finally located them down the hill. Ron was up to his knees in the stream and Tom was abusing his favourite tree again... :)

lol when one of mine had swollen legs the other week i didn't bother with cold hosing, just stood him in the overflow from the flooded lake which was about 18'' deep at the time, worked a treat and he didn't fuss half as much as when i wash his legs normally, i shall miss my horse bath when it finally dries up!!:)
