And it's very nice!
Chloe has been on box-rest for the last 3 weeks due to a cracked fetlock and lameness. As my mum is struggling with her hip my YO has been helping her out whilst she does her full liveries by keeping chloe clean during the day, and it's now extended to me
I've got up to the yard the last 2 nights and my haynets have been refilled, my water bucket filled, and my bed mucked out (and she won't charge for any of it).
So all I've had to do is exercise both girls.
Chloe has been turned out in the school each morning whilst it has been dry. She walks round the edge, rolls occasionally, and then stands at the gate waiting to come back in. She hasn't got the desire to exercise herself!
I've ridden her bareback in the evenings to keep her walking round, but decided yesterday to pop a saddle on and take her round the block. In gale force winds
We set off at quite a pace (for her) and then when we turned to home she started jogging... then trotting... trotting faster... then a few strides of canter. Thankfully we hit a slight hill then and she stopped
It's the first time I've been 'run away with' at trot, with a lame horse
It loosened her off though, so hopefully she's just stiff now with all the box rest, and once it dries up and she can go out through the day she'll be fine
I got back from riding her to find Meg all tacked up, so I took her into the school for some work. Warming up was 'interesting' as my friend was loose-exercising her old gelding. He'd had the vet up as he'd rolled and struggled to get up a few days before, so he was being cantered and trotted around me to stop him stiffening up! That, plus a strong wind resulted in a very.... normal Meg. I'm not sure what will fire her up now
Once he'd gone in we cracked on with practicing our 20m circles, whilst I concentrated on not being blown off
So all I did last night was ride, and make up Meg's feeds
It was very nice getting home at a decent time, and with energy left over
