Well after this post yesterday about how it'd been a year since I lost Mazzie... http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4587341/an/0/page/0#4587341
...Today is much happier - I've had Genie a year!
I so nearly didn't get Genie... Mazzie was killed the day before her vetting and I was all set to cancel. Then my instructor gave me the advice to go for it as she would have been coming anyway subject to vetting, and I am so glad I listened to her! I almost didn't go to see her in the first place, as she was 14.2hh and I really wanted something more around the 15hh mark.
When I first went to see her...
Not long at the yard...
In September we went to our first show and got some fantastic results...
The day after the show....
End of September we went cross country for the first time...
Beginning of November we did our first Hunter Trial and went round clear! (Her 3rd time going cross country)
Winter came and she had to come in at night for the first time ever, and she showed just what she thought of that... If she runs out of hay all the rugs get pulled off as she has a tantrum.
On Boxing Day my nephews sat on her
End of January we did our first jumping clinic!
And a week later we had snow!!!
In March we did another jumping clinic at a slightly larger height
Which didn't always go to plan....
April was our first stressage! We had to go HC as it was another yard's closed show. Little madam was EXTREMELY strong, but we got 1st in Walk and Trot (or would have!), 7th in Prelim, and 4th in Novice. Comments included 'well ridden despite the horse taking you like a train'!
Two days later was our first show of the season... 6th in Cob, and 1st in Large Mountain and Moorland!
Later on in the month we qualified for Royal London in the Ridden Cob! (Pro pics only)

Next show was at the beginning of May, and she came home with a 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th. The 1st was in best condition, which I took as a huge compliment!
Then another show at the end of May... 1st in Turnout and two 5ths!
And recently we've had some great jumping lessons, although brakes have been rather absent!
I LOVE my pony! So much has happened and changed this last year... She's filled out a lot, grown almost 2 inches, and I'm getting more and more confident jumping. Our next show is on Sunday and I'm really looking forward to it! While I lost Mazzie very suddenly, Genie has helped me move on and I really thing that it was meant to be.
And now I'm off to the yard to see to her!
Luxury choccies to everyone who gets this far!
