I've just been asked a rather silly question...

I am flogging my saddle on Ebay, it is an 18" Santa Cruz saddle that did fit my 17.3hh TB.

I have just been sent a message asking for my opinion on whether it would fit a very slight 13hh - not only that but the rider is an 8yo child and this is her first pony. I have suggested that she get a saddle fitter out as these people are the best to advise but the question really puzzled me somewhat!!

Now, would an 18" saddle fit something that was 13hh?! I'm completely second guessing myself!!!!

I think not! I imagine the pony is not long and the rider does not have a huge arse if they're riding something that small...so maybe 15" would be a better bet?

Which is exactly what I thought!!! I suggested a 14-16" seat. I understand people are new to horses and horse care but surely they should be going down the correct channels when buying tack...
