I know how many people on here absolutely love them, but my over active bottom and the WOW saddle do NOT get on at all. Tacked up today to hack one of Robert's horses around to the indoor and do some grids for tomorrow- Robert is going BSJA with him.
He is besotted with his WOW saddle and he rides extremely well in it, however I get on with it less well. Today I had deliberately stuck his albion on to jump in because it keeps me where I need to be, A is a big, long striding horse with some rather large and interesting transitions!
Robert seemed a little miffed I wasn't using his uber fancy WOW saddle so to avoid any tantrums I swapped. All was going well, and then he popped the jump up to a grid of two 1m parallels, followed by a 1.20m spead. He had popped some placing poles after and before the jumps to help A with his striding as he is so long, he popped all three nicely, and two strides afterwards put in his own very impressive flying change, I got catapulted forwards, and tumbled comically off the 17hh beast. My bottom hurts, but I draw the line at using that saddle again, it pushes me forwards with its shallow seat!!

Mine isn't a WOW but a GP treeless, I couldn't canter in it at all when I first got it without it pinging me out of the saddle but its worth perservering. I've only seen someone else ride in it once and she couldn't even do a rising trot so I felt a whole let better. With time I've learned to ride in it, just a bit like learning to ride again because all the bits move in a different way

Sorry rosie! And glad you arent hurt

The flat seated wows are very much as they say... flat. I mean, there is NOTHING to them. I have the old style deep seat, before they introduced the very deep and by the standards of many saddles, its not deep.

I wouldn't envy anyone jumping in the flat seated ones. I love my wow to death but its got a reasonable seat and huge whacking knee rolls.

Rem that the air in the WOW is adjusted to the person's weight, so if you're lighter than the person for whom it was fitted, it won't be 'right' for you...

I was DEF getting the spacehopper effect with mine (2nd hand), esp jumping, but once I had it adjusted to fit me, it was fine.

I have the same seat as Tierra on my GP and I find it really supportive to jump in even if Jen flings in a really extravagant jump. Its described as a deep seat but in reality it isn't really that deep. Before I got my WOW I had a Barnsby jumping saddle and its seat was so flat it was virtually horizontal and had only 1 tiny block under the flaps. It was horrendous to jump in and the first time I jumped in it I got flung over the back of the cantle!

I'm now jumping BN at shows and a bit bigger at home in the WOW and don't find the "deep" seat to be a problem although my saddler says if we ever get as far as Fox (

) I might have to change it to the shallower option.

I'd agree with the comment about these saddles being fitted to the individual horse and rider combination. I can't ride my friend's horse in her WOW, but it works very well for her.

I tried the shallow seat and loved it so I can see why your friend Robert likes it. We ended up with the deep seat though as OH hated the shallow and he was paying

(we share the horse). Maybe as others have said you'd get on better with the deep seat - if he likes WOWs so much he might buy a deep seat next. Hope you're not too bruised, 17hh is a long way to fall!
