I've been helping a friend put together a website over the Christmas break for his animal and people Osteopathy business. , but I need some help with the proof reading of the pages.

It makes interesting reading and it will have some amazing pictures of his work with all manner of animals big and small when I can get the picture gallery up and running (subject to getting access to the server controls).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I've spent a fair few hours on it in return for him putting our pony Jessie right after she hurt her shoulder jumping last year

It is at www.zooost.com

Thanks in advance

It is interesting and looks good. I'll have a longer read later! One thing that struck me though is that the bright blue text is almost impossible to read on my screen.

Sorry to be negative as a first off!

Not at all

. This is the stuff I need to alter. It looks fine on my laptop, but no idea how it looks on other PCs.

I was a bit frazzled when I stuck it on there last night, so it all began to blur

Agree with the blue text comment, .. this I would change (might just be me though!)

where I specialise in the treatment of chronic, long standing, mechanical conditions affecting the performance horse/pony.

I would say the performance of a horse/pony other wise people might think its for professional horses only

Hate an animal being called it!

Each patient is given a course of treatment specific to its’ own needs,

I would say his or hers needs, sounds nicer

As it is his business. The content has to come from him, but he is happy for the wording to be reworked if it doesn't read properly. The difficulty is that he had worded the original dialogue from a clinicians from his point of view, and so I needed to alter it a bit so the process can be seen from a patients or owners perspective.

What about the speed which the pages loads at ?

I'd agree with the blue text comments as well. I have two monitors on my pc and on one it is not too bad, although it is difficult to read, but on the other it is blinding!

It loads really quickly, not bad at all

The only thing i will say is that I would have kept the text central and fixed width, as if you are looking on a big monitor a line of text goes on for miles...just my opinion though, and I'm being picky

The homepage and treatment page originally took approx 10 secs to load on my pc, which tbh was making me a bit impatient! The others were quick.

There aren't any links from the pages to the other pages, you have to go home, and then on again, so may need some bookmarks adding to make navigation easier.

The osteopathy pages have a lot of grey, wasted space between the paragraphs on my screen.

These sentences stand out as needing a bit of reworking from the about us page. They just read wrong to me!

"Now looking forward from the wealth of experience which 20 years in practice has brought me, I will continue to hone my osteopathic skills between both human and animal patients for the benefit of all"

"As a branch of medicine, it lays main emphasis on the body framework (muscle-skeletal system) and how it functions. By normalising, and maintaining this system, an individual can attain, and remain healthy"

For consistency make sure all your bulleted points have either no full stops, or all have got full stops in Veterinary Referral Requirements Prior to Treatment

Are all the contact addresses in the Treatment page also on the contact us page? There seemed to be a lot in the treatment page, whereas it might be better just having a link through to the contact us page, and making sure that has all the details!

You might want to make the links in the link page open up in a new window, rather than leaving the site.

Sorry, will stop now, and I am being very picky - you've done a great job with it.

BTW - your stencil bum site text goes right across a large screen as well

Like all the pics of treating Rhinos!

Generally nice and simple although I would be keen for there to be a menu bar with the basic links (humans, animals, contact us etc etc) available on every page.

The basic rule should be 1 mouseclick away from the main pages, max 3 clicks away from any other pages where ever you are in the site.

Also not entirely sure that grey text on a grey background is very good for poorly sighted people, but someone else may correct me on that one!

I've still got a fair amount of work to do as I've got a list now, but I've reworked the buttons a bit, what do you think of them ?

You should have text links as well as image links. Some people have images turned off so wouldn't see them. The image links also need alt. text so they show a description (so when you mouse over you get a text letting you know what they are)

Blue text on blue background (or grey on grey) is not so good for people who have bad eyesight (me! lol) they tend to blend into each other.

Also, if possible, use a css rather than font tags throughout.
It's a nice clean site though, and if it was put in a table and centred a bit it would make it easier to read!
Sorry, I seem to be picking

It is a really good site. you have done a good job

ed to say, I see you have alt text on the images but they don't show in FF.. FF uses the tag 'title=" ' lol..

The worst thing about this exercise is that I will have to redo my own website completely now

. Anyway I have altered the body text colour to Magnolia, and I hadn't thought to use a table to keep everything in place, but it makes perfect sense as does the CSS.

The rework can just run away with you when you get down to the nitty gritty

Its interesting stuff, but its like learning a foreign language

I know! I re-did my website and it took weeks

Sometimes i lose patience with it all!

But once you have done it, you get a nice warm feeling of satisfaction
