to say they have got their electric fence down due to the hunt going past and the hounds going through!
I'm not worried about them getting out, as they are still contained in the field, it was just a fence to keep them off some machinery and to keep them away from the gate so said machinery can come and go without pesky horses being nosey!!
HORSES.

If the horses are still in the field, I would go and either remove the fencing or put it back properly, to avoid them getting caught up in it. Very annoying though!

Echo this - this is what happened to my horse when here was some electric fence down.

The picture was after two weeks in horsepital, several weeks box rest and many many hundreds of ££££s. He could have been PTS if the blood supply to his foot had been compromised, fortunately it wasn't.

Definitely go back to clear the fencing. Another one who has had their horse get caught up in loose electric tape.

This was after a cast, bandaging, lots of Manuka honey and a months box rest. As above I was very lucky it only involved nerves and an artery.

And then there are the plastic posts lying on the ground, with their metal stakes waiting to stab a horse....

OP, hope all is ok with your lot. They picked a nice dark wet and windy evening for you to have go back and sort everything out, didn't they :rolleyes3:.

The horses are fine, the tape down but still in one piece, ALL the fence poles taken out (that is about 15) and at both ends the string broken (large bale thick string) and my plastic fence handle smashed. Amazingly, the fencer (old with slightly fragile connections) is unharmed and back working on the fence which I put back up. I had barely left them an hour, and didn't hear or see any sign of the hunt. There are no skidding hoof marks into the fence line and both seem pretty peaceful.
I'm at a loss to quite how much damage 'they' did, and oddly, I'm thinking that the hounds got the zap and took it down in circles! The tape wasn't dragged far, just in circles with all the posts!! How the string (at both ends) and handle broke is a mystery!

Shocking what damage can be caused though, thank you for posting those images.
