I've been up on the Mendips on my little borrowed mare (Frosty, in my sig) and had a gallop on her for the first time. She can really shift it, for a little short-legged little fatty! But the best bit is, I wasn't worried about it at all, and normally I am a bit of a wimp, I worry and get very tense. BUT, I think I have found the reason and it's not horse related! I've only been riding this pony since I came to uni for my 4th, very stressful year. And my exams finished yesterday, so I think the worry was the underlying stress of uni work. So I'm very happy and not quite as wussy as I thought I was!
