I've only just noticed him to the right >>>>>>>>

I think this breed has not been in the country very long.....maybe ten years or more, I don't know much about them.
I think they may be more working bred than show or companion dogs, but someone may know more about them than me!

they appear to be working dogs......I love pointers but don't think they'd suit my lifestyle.

That said, one of the reasons a cocker appeals is I'd like to have a go at beating/shooting next year.

I thought it looked like a rough-haired Weimaraner when I saw him, looked at Wikipedia and Slovakian Rough-haired Pointer is a breed mainly created by crossing Weimaraner with a native breed, the developer (quoted from Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovakian_Rough-haired_Pointer ) "wanted a dog with great stamina which would track, point, retrieve in water or land".

Seems like a typical breed with looks to attract the wrong owners, ending with so called "dogs with problems", when in fact they're only wanting what they where bred for, which includes a lot of exercise.
