I think he thought he had retired at the grand old age of five. He was sporting the most pained expression I have ever seen on a horse tonight. Poor old boy. Some one should put the RSPCA on speed dial for him really.

*lol* jesstickle, my 5 yo was the same! He brought the saddle out today and he gave the deepest sigh I've ever heard. Three times riding in three days, mum? He's wishing for snow, now!

Hah ! poor specemins of horse! Poor Bob the (not a) cob went into a decline last week . I even called the vet out . Turns out he was depressed. Everything else totaly normal. Why , cos he wasnt out playing cowboys , being ridden in the snow. He tried to escape when the snow had turned to ice ,but promptly learned that Ice is bad even if you have four legs. Fortunately no harm done. Show Bob a saddle (or worse still drive in ,with a horsebox) and he turns into some sort of demented Tigger!

my horse is the same - dreading getting back up on him and he turns into a cheeky little git if he hasn't been worked in a while :(

Mine is evil if not worked, doesn't mean he likes it though.

Once you get going he enjoys it really, it's just that bit where he goes to hide his head in the corner that makes me laugh. Dopey sod. As if that has ever worked!

Charlie was refusing to leave the field today, through fear that he might be ridden for the 3rd time in 3 days. Came up to the yard and stood very quietly as if to say "I'm not really here and Mum might not notice me" However, once out and about he really enjoyed himself. With Charlie he doesnt like the thought of going out, but does enjoy once going!
