The above is a link to the facebook page started by Mr Gadsby which is trying to get folk to sign a petition which is appealing to the KC to end hair testing of dogs to test for substances on the coat. This includes any type of silicone, chalk, etc. While I would agree that coloring should be banned, I think that banning any type of substance other than water is a bit over the top. I don't show dogs, but I do groom them and can understand why a show exibitor would find it difficult to present their best on a dog that you could only groom using water. For example, bichon, bedlington terriers, poodles or anything with a wool coat really need a good shampoo before being exhibited. How about soemthing for tangles? What about hand lotion from the judge being transferred to the dog's coats?
