For many years Ive looked after other people's horses and worked on various yards. Only recently have I got my own horse (be it on loan but still) and I've realised today that I've turned into an obsessive owner/pain in the backside livery!

For instance:

1. My horse, who is still quite skinny after having a foal, being turned out into a paddock (tiny) with nothing to eat all day.
2. Mucking out not being done/poorly done.
3. Water trough filthy and stinking.
4. Horse being left in it's turn out rug overnight.
5. Stable rugs being dumped on the floor.
6. My headcollars just being left on the floor of the yard.

Rant rant rant. I know and I will speak to the Head Girl but it's just bloody annoying. no-one can look after my horsey as well as me eh

TBH, I also work in a yard (don't have a horse on livery) and *I* am the one who complains about all those things! Fair enough to have the occasional bad day, but to not muck out properly, ever? To dump rugs on the floor for someone else to tidy away/put neatly over the door? To not be able to find a headcollar so turf all the others on the floor and leave them there??!

People wonder why I get stressed - THAT is why!!
I would never leave my horse on livery where I work!

We are on DIY livery & it bugs me that my things are constantly disappearing!
One thing though...don't see there is any problem leaving a tunrout rug on overnight?! Mine keeps his on all the time - don't see the point of swapping into a cold stable rug when he's already snug & tucked up in a turnout!! Also not so bad if horse accidentally sleeps in damp patch as rug is already waterproof thus eliminating pongy stable stains!

haha
its very hard when you've been a groom, i was and i don't think i could let someone else look after Andy, too fussy.!

seriously tho, i would be having words with HG.. thats not on.!!

Well, if I was paying livery fees and someone was treating my property and my horse that way I wouldnt be impressed! You are not being paranoid - you are being sensible and caring and paying good money for service!

Yep, I'm just as fussy. And have got worse the longer I've had horses. Just like things to be done properly really and kept tidy.
One thing that really bugs me is my headcollars and leadropes being dragged through mud and being left attached to the field gate in the rain !!
