Izuzu trooper......or disco??

Disco! I love them. So solid and strong - good to tow with.. We have an old disco - the original type, and its still going great. I can't say I like the new style that much - bit too transit van shape for me, but they're meant to be one of the best towing vehicles going...

Any experiences?? reviews please!!

Trooper every time. Half the price and twice the performance. Just make sure that it has had a recall, they had a problem with the injectors. Half the price for parts and servicing. Tows a house, please dont go down the Disco route.I loved my Trooper more than my horse!

Disco brilliant for towing, mines a Disco 1 3.9 V8 auto, although its giving me a bit of grief at the moment (has intermittent fault, hopefully we've sussed this out and is of to garage on Wednesday) I wouldn't swop it for anything - well apart from a nice 71/2 ton ford cargo/iveco ;)

Couldnt agree more!! I love mySuzi Trooper, pulls a trailer with ease, holds 48 dirty horse rugs (and clean ones when Ive cleaned them), carries 2 labradors, does the School run and just loves going to Asda! Had mine nearly 6 yrs now, shes a 1995 model so not affected by the recall problems. Will be a very sad day when she goes to Trooper heaven. Long live Suzi!!

I have just sold my trooper loved it but it was starting to go wrong it was top of the range citation3.1 diesel. Have spent quite a bit on it lately all shock absorbers, uplift pump took a bit of getting hold of )a few weeks. We also had a disco rubbish at pulling would not have one again. Trooper every time.

I love Tommy Trooper!!:D

He is 15 years old and still going strong - tows two big horses no problem. Is relatively low milage and will keep going for years - easy to get parts etc and as yet hasn't cost a lot for any maintenance/repairs.:)

*touches wood*

Have you got the message OP, Trooper every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are also good looking.

I went to see a trooper and I really did like it. Like you, it was a toss up between one of those or a Disco. In fact when I started on my replacement 4x4 hunt, I was adamant that I WAS NOT getting a Disco. After doing hours of research and not wanting anything newer than 2006, due the hike in road tax, but wanting newer than 2000, I ruled out Sorentos (as only the newer than 2006 can tow 3.5 or 3 tonnes, depending on transmission), Landcruisers (as nothing in my age catergory in the price range I set myself), ditto Tauregs (I'd REALLY love one too), BMW's and Merc were never in contention and Patrols (would never be able to afford to keep it on the road, as MPG ****e!). So, I test drove a Ssangyong Rexton (with PF) (didn't like it enough, too sluggish and worried about availability of parts), a Trooper (I liked it, but on further investigation realied that ditto the Patrol, would never be able to afford to run it), a Shogun and a Pajero (both of which I got out of with a bad back) and 3 Discos. Yep, I bought a Disco lol! Have had it just over a month and touch wood, am really liking it. It's TD5, is a very pretty Navy blue lol and more importantly, he tows like a dream and is very comfortable, which is important if I need to go home to visit family, as it's 316 miles door to door, plus it's actually more economic to run than Rocky was - my now deceased Fourtrack - RIP.
