Non cooperation with a court order, to do a probation interview, will hugely increase her penalty. If people just ignore court instructions, there is no effective law, which is why it's penalised heavily.

ETA, this is also a pretty serious offence, imo, failing to sort this fire risk after having been told to do so

putting at least one person at ‘risk of death or serious injury in case of fire.

It seems she has a total disregard for any form of authority.

I sort of see that TPO but fire safety breaches are v v serious.

providing a fire extinguisher and a couple of smoke alarms is all it would have taken apparently. So she’s only herself to blame as that would taken half an hour? Silly girl.

A little more than that, non-compliance with Building Control regs in a building used for accommodation, but even so, she'd have been far better off doing the work and paying the money in the first place, or speaking to the Probation Service afterwards. She seems to think rules don't apply to her at all.

I understand the seriousness of complying with HSE etc but it's crazy to think she might get a jail sentence when real criminals are walking free (including members of the government and police!!)

Perhaps she is copying our government, the rules don’t seem to apply to them either

Am I correct in thinking that this is about accommodation provided for employees? If so, I'm glad people are being held to account over this, it's unacceptable to put employees at risk and provide substandard accommodation. A jail sentence would be harsh but she seems to have been obtuse about the matter and that needs penalising.

I'm not diminishing the seriousness of her actions (or lack of). I'm well versed in building control and HSE etc

Just meaning the cost and resource to keep her in jail when r@pists & law breakers are walking free (& often in positions of power)

She has longstanding history in the area for debts at yards she has rented and then left. Aldershot Farm was Derek Ricketts home and base for many years and I understand she is a tenant there.

This is local paper report

Yes she is very self centred / selfish, a recent example - last year at Blenheim she marched with her entourage through the ROR dressage championship enclosure while a horse was in the Arena despite all riders being told by the organisers they could not enter during the ROR competition.

Some years ago my then trainer had rented a XC schooling course to run some XC clinics, she was renting part of the yard linked to said XC schooling course. She decided to XC school at the same time despite trainer having sole use of the facility and created havoc as the session she interrupted was for new to XC and nervous riders!!!

Stupid entitled madam. For the sake of keeping employees safe she is going to risk going to prison and leaving her kids and career behind. Idiot.

ETA they shouldn’t waste taxpayers money on prison mind. Big fine plus community service. Go through the BE calendar and have obligatory service over every single UK international event date.

In the local FB groups there have often been complaints about her horses being ridden out on the local (busy) roads without any hi viz.
Safety doesn't seem to be a huge concern.....

The road that Aldershot Farm drive links to is on an urban and very very busy road. Part of an un-official ring road around a rapidly expanding both housing and commercial Bicester. It is not nice in a car let alone on a horse and the road is utterly inappropriate for road work!
I do not do FB so am unaware of the FB groups alluded to but I am sure they are correct.

It can be really busy, certainly not somewhere I would want to be hacking out, even with hi viz.

Edit to add - I have seen horses along the Bucknell Road and near the roundabout quite z few times - no hi viz - I didn't realise who they were at first and was a bit gobsmacked when I found out.

That’s a plan .

But seriously I am pretty obsessed with horses but some of these tunnel vision competitors take the biscuit the don’t realise that most of the world does not care that their horses can jump three arrowheads at 1.20 on a curved three stride line .
Sadly the natural physiological makeup of some of these very top sports people the thing that makes them succeed means they don’t function well or ethically in the world .Its just some many are delightfully normal kind people but there’s definitely a type that are on another planet .
I also hate the casual lack of care for those slogging it out behind the scenes I had hoped the world had moved on a bit , shame on her .

My niece has groomed for some of the big names here and internationally. The horrendous conditions some of them expect their staff to live in are beyond belief. From downright illegal and dangerous to overcrowded, vermin infested and filthy. I’m glad this is being taken seriously, particularly if she hasn’t engaged with services as instructed and thinks she is above the law.

Oh wow, how can you be that stupid? Though if the prison sentence does happen, be a nice little wake up call for the industry!

It may not be perfect but the BHA inspect trainers yards including accommodation as part of the licence. Decent accommodation is a huge plus to getting and keeping staff let alone complying with the legal requirements.

If I had a horse with a trainer that took them out on busy roads with no hi-viz I'd be moving the horse to another trainer.

I'm not a fan of the nanny state but I do agree with accommodation being safe, particularly in regard to fire. The current proposal to increase regulation of rented flats/houses in regard to damp, etc is a very good thing. If it happens then the horse world will have to pay attention to the new requirements.

Racing is not perfect but it does try and look after the staff that works in it in regard to pay and conditions. Leisure equestrian could do worse than to copy racing's requirements.

She sounds a right piece of work and seems to think she's above everyone else. Can't stand when people don't wear hi Viz or say thank you to cars who have bothered to slow down
She is as are a couple of other female eventers locally. Their bad attitude is followed by their staff like not thanking motorists who do pass slow and wide, no Hi-viz etc etc.
See post #12 for an example :(

Which others? I know of one in the area thougg might be more buckingham / MK way that was taken to court by a staff member for unsafe accomodation, the gas canisters in the caravan leaked and they had no heating and owed the staff member wages. She settled out of court.

^^ This. It's time equestrian employers started treating their employees decently.
