Mickey was due his annual tetanus/flu shot this week. However, he became ill with some kind of virus/bacterial infection in his upper rep tract at the same time, so the jabs could not be done.
My question is, I am now going to have a gap between when his last jab expired (1 yr on) and the new jab, which is yet to be done. How will this affect things? -From a record/passport perspective, from his immunity perspective, and from a competing perspective......?

He will probably be fine they are designed to last longer ,so no problem there BUT riding club will not accept them and you will have to restart them. Think it is the same for other comps but they don't tend to check so much.Depends if you want to do rc qualifiers and champs

And am thinking of affiliating in dr, so would that be a prob do you think???
What does re-starting mean? Do you know how many extra jabs?? Thanks!

I think they have to be up to date on jabs for affiliated dressage (though not completely sure), but now he has missed his booster jab he'll have to start a course of injections again, with an intial small jab, then another ~6 weeks later, then another 6 months later (then yearly after that). But you'll be allowed to compete him again after the second jab.

Well his temp is right down to 37.3C so that is good news. He is still finding it difficult to bend down and eat off the floor (swollen glands under his jaw causing him pain). Still sleeping a lot and looking a little depressed. I'm going to call the vet later to give them an update and see if they have the blood/swab results. Would be very useful to have a conclusive diagnosis. No cough and no snotty nose and no abcesses.....as a far as I can tell
Thanks for asking, I appreciate it.

I hope you get the resutls soon - its a real worry when you don't know whats wrong. Still sounds like he's on the mend. Hope it continues.

affiliated dressage doesn't require flu jabs so no worries there. if you want to do riding club you'll have to restart his course - that means 1jab then another 21-92 days later, then another 150-215 days later then yearly boosters.
