So we decided to brave another show, it was a local pony club one so not really any fun classes but decided it would be good experience for us all.
Entered into the best turned out with Noah and Rocket after spending most of Saturday washing and preening him, unfortunately because we had taken Patch ( Rockets companion) with us for Lucy to ride, Rocket decided that he just wasn't going to behave in the ring, jig jogged around, whinnied and farted constantly and wouldn't stand still in the line up, so although we had made such an effort and were spotless we came last.
We then took Jack in the lead rein class, it was very full so we didn't think we would be very successful, the judge had us walking around for ages by which point Jack was exhausted and could hardly keep his head up let alone sit upright, poor Steve was sweating buckets trying to hold onto him, at one point we even lost his jodhpur boot
, we did manage a very bouncy trot and sweated back to the line up, much to our amazement we got pulled in fourth.
I then took Noah into a coloured class on the lead rein, again we got pulled in last as the judges comment was maybe you will get placed higher when you can do a proper show and your son can ride, hmm, he is still on the lead rein for a reason! we did manage a figure of eight trot! the two competitors that turned up 10 minutes or more late for the class got placed above which irked me a little but hey ho its all experience right.
finished off the day with a quick go at the handy pony which was a giggle. both Noah and Jack are getting a lot more confident with their riding, previously if Rocket had been fidgety they would ask to get off but they are happy to stay and ride it out, I really need to teach Noah to rise to the trot but he is lacking co-ordination, a job for this weekend I think.
so all in all a good day but exhausting, not sure I enjoyed it as much as the last one, found the parents way to competitive and down right rude, although im sure not all pony clubs are the same (runs for cover)
Will post piccies when I can find the camera,
hope you have all had a lovely weekend x
