Does anyone know of any Jack Russell breeders please that they could recommend?

We are in Berkshire but happy to travel (although would prefer to keep the distance shorter for the puppy’s journey home).

Ideally looking for a smooth coated / broken coated puppy with parents who have tested clear for heritable conditions.

We won’t be looking at buying a puppy until spring next year but would like to get in contact with a few people in the meantime :)

Thank you in advance!

All the JRTs round here (Surrey/Berks borders) seem to come from the traveller community (settled locally in one the many sites round here). I am quite sure there is no health check but mine came from them through word of mouth and she was healthy until recently and she is nearly 14. My sons JRT also came from another group. I think there are very few "official" breeders but they are usually hardy little dogs and ours were "home bred". They were not really puppy farmed but were of course back yard bred. The parents were both around in my case and were proper family dogs though did not live in the house were actually well loved and good with children and animals. I would buy again despite the usual reservations people may have provided I could see they were cared for. They were in large runs with good shelter/kennels and they were healthy and wormed but not vaccinated.
I realise not everyone would agree with buying like this but it was the only way I could get a JRT and see where it had come from. I don't like the adverts on websites I would prefer to rescue or buy locally for this kind of dog. Different if it was a proper pedegree eg Lab/GSD where the risks are higher for hips/elbows etc - I would then always go for a reputable recommended breeder.
Look in tack shops for adverts and put the word out with farriers and yards locally. There are always some around.
Edited to say that the parents were allowed in the house during the day and went to the yard with owner regularly and played in the garden with the children. The kennel was for sleeping and the puppies were in them with heaters. I know she bred 3 litters from mum then had her spayed and has not bred since.

Our local feed stores and vets have noticeboards with advertisements for all types of working dogs. I'm sure this is probably a Countrywide thing. Could be worth a try.

I got my terrier (supposedly Patterdale/Jack Russel x Lakeland) from an advert in Trade It.

It was about 10 miles away and the house had settees etc piled up in the garden! I should have driven away but carried on regardless and was presented with several puppies all running round and pooing on the carpets. They seemed to have the run of the lounge!

Anyway, I met a bitch who may/may not have been mum who was very sweet and picked my wormy (they had been wormed recently apparently), scabby behind the ears, puppy who on examination of the docking paperwork on return home was only seven weeks. I asked if I could have some food to take with me and she said she had run out!!

Anyway, I have never regretted my mad purchase. He is the best natured, easy, cracking little dog who loves (and wins) terrier racing and killing rats, camping, coast path walking and the pub!

There are often litters of JRs on Preloved (I look every day!!).

It depends if OP wants a KC reg show type russell I suppose? Or a proper one! :-)
The unreg seem to come in al lshapes and sizes. I'm not sure they have many health tests as a breed even if reg? Surely they haven't been KC reg long enough to be completely ruined yet?

I know someone who has some Male Jack Russell puppies available. They are farm dogs out of her own Jack Russell's so they are not KC registered. If you want more info let me know and I'll give you her contact details.
