Before you tell me I'm mad, he's my nan's dog and rehomed not bought as a puppy!

Anybody got any experience of this cross? Having a greyhound myself I'm well aware he's the opposite end of the energy/exercise/intelligence spectrum.
He's shockingly smart and has a lovely temperament but is so hyper no matter how much exercise he gets or what he's fed. We've had him for a couple of months now, hasn't been neutered yet as vet wanted vaccinations done first which I imagine probably isn't helping much.

So any tips on how to combat the hyperactivity?? Thinking of taking him to agility classes but need to be 100% sure of his recall/obedience first plus I don't think he can go until he's been neutered anyway? So that's a long term plan. He's very very toy focused rather than food focused like mine so its rather odd having a normal "dog" that likes to play!

Clicker train him, you can do it in the house or garden - exercises the brain and all that concentration does tire them out. But if he is less than 2 years old he isn't grown up yet, will calm down when he has

What about bringing out the terrier in him and hiding his toys in various places in the garden - first so he can see you putting them there. Give the command 'seek' when you let him go. Eventually he will associate 'seek' with trying to find his toys and you can hide them with him out of sight.

If you do that then also individually name the toy, ball, teddy etc so he can search by name.

I have a JRT X Chihuahua. But unlike yours, she's not very bright at all ;). The only way I can wear her out is loads of off-lead exercise.

That is a great cross for agility , there are many of that combination competing . He would not need to be neutered but you do need basic obedience . Why don't you start by taking him to obedience classes then move on to agility when you have the control .

Mine loves agility! She started off just tagging along with our collie just for a bit of fun, but she has really taken to it! Just need to master the weave and we will be ready to compete next year. She's too clever for her own good, loves a good run but also can be a lazy little toad, hates the rain and cold and often refuses to leave the house if it's miserable outside!
I love her to bits, but she is a yappy little thing. Loves people though (especially my 2yo niece!) and has excellent recall.
