Jacket for dressage! Suggestions!

I'm delighted because one of my Xmas pressies is funds to get a comp jacket! :D This was on my wish list, but not so much on my need list, if you get what I mean: I really desire one, but have a perfectly good tweed that would do us for a while yet (though the Ballerina Mare isn't really a tweed type, to my mind). So that makes it an awesome present!

I'm looking for blue (navy) rather than black, and it's for dressage. Normal off-the-rack jackets do NOT fit me; the back is too long and the sleeves too short. I'll need something at least partially M2M/adjusted.

Help me go shopping? :)
 
Depending on budget, Animo or spooks. Shorter jackets are very much "in" at the moment so you might be ok for length. Pikeur also have a few shorter ones, Depends very much on your figure, the Skarlett really hung off me and looked awful, you need to be straight up and down for it. The anky one really suited my figure but I didn't like the style. Also look at cavallo.

Try dressage deluxe, they stock most of the above and have their own brand. Also the staff are really helpful and will discuss figure/ shapely ness over the phone.

Oh forgot to mention, I got mine altered by a tailor, I don't know of any M2m brands.
 
Alexander James and Mrs candy do stunning made to measure jackets at not much more than thier off the peg ones.

I personaly would not get a jacket altered by a non equine tailor as they never sit quite right afterwards, you need the tailor to understand that it is not the same as a suit jacket and you need to be able to move in certain ways and have more space in certain areas.
 
I have a really nice equi theme soft shell jacket it looks really really nice and was just over £100, a lot less than the spooks ones!

I've tried on Pikeur jackets because I like the look of them, but the ones I've tried are all too long in the back and too short in the sleeve. It's not just the overall length of the jacket, it's the actual relative position of the waist (which should remain the same in a long or short jacket made for the same person). To explain what I mean: it's the ribcage part that is too long, so that on me, the jacket waist is about where my (not narrow) hips are. I have this problem with all fitted off-the-rack clothing, cuts intended for "petites" fit me much better in this respect, but then obviously the arms are far too short.
 
I am exactly the same as you short in the back and arms. Last year I treated myself to a bespoke Equiport jacket and it is the best investment I ever made. I had mine in brown but they have loads of blue colours to choose from. I decided to go to their shop near Chester and be properly measured, was well worth it as mine fits like a glove, but they also put plenty of allowance in the seams to be altered should I need to in future. Great service too.
 
AAAH! Just called Dressage Deluxe, and there's a new Pikeur jacket out that's in my price range, the Radina. I'm told it's the shortest one available...they'll hopefully call me with some measurements later...I'm really hoping this'll work, because I've always liked the look of their jackets, but the Scarlett is just a bit too long.
 
I have a Pikeur Skarlett and I love it! Light and technical fabric, can have the option to have a different collar colour, and I love the zips on the back vents. I think they are short enough to be trendy, but still classy. I can't stand the super tight jackets that make you look like you're wearing a cycling jersey!
 
Cheers! :D Am super-delighted with it! It's pretty much exactly the price that my parents said they would pay for, the fabric is lovely, and it has just enough of a modern touch/subtle bling, without offending my traditionalist sensibilities. Once the mare has her new saddle, I just have to worry about how to get her white again... :D Picked up some "Dirty Beastie", that I've been assured is effective...we shall see... :D
