I have a lovely green tweed cutaway jacket, it doesnt have tails but has 2 vents at the sides and a navy velvet collar. Would this be okay for a plaited up coloured LW cob? just wanted to do cob classes at local level and eventually maybe county level, although i believe there not meant for riding astride but i really love the fit of this coat. Would i get marked down for wearing it? What colour waist-coat would i need underneath? was thinking mustard?
Ideas and pics wanted please if you have a cutaway!

I love the fit of cutaways, but they are meant for side saddle only. You'd get away with it at local level, but I'm pretty confident you would be the only one in the ring at county level in one. Since you have it already though, I would wear it and keep an eye out for a good bargain in the meantime to replace it. There's no immediate rush if you're sticking to local/rc level.

Waistcoat, since he's a cob, should be as neutral and discreet as possible, and tone in with your outfit. Definately steer away from bright yellows/reds/blues. Difficult to say otherwise without seeing coat itself.

Also, just incase you don't know, cobs should be hogged not plaited. This is something you will definately need to change for county level.

Good luck (and happy tweed shopping when it comes!)

You will be fine - My friend loves them and wear a blue for hack and tweed for riding horse ! I think judges may overlook her attire sometimes as her horse is so bloody beautiful ... I'd post some pics I have but they are not of me so shouldn't ! She does look smart

Sorry, cutaways and velvet collars are just far too much bling for a cob - you need a workmanilike, traditional, ratcatcher jacket.

When i say cob she is more of a native type, little feather, thin mane and a not very thick tail, shes not very stocky and has 8" of bone. Pulled and trimmed she would def look more of a sporty type than a hairy.
What colour waistcoat then? am really not sure?!

Have you a picture of her?

Cobs are one of two things - hogged or traditional (which she's not if she's not got full feather). You might be better doing other classes than cobs...
