What can you tell me, good and bad, about Jaguar Mail offspring. I've always admired him and had always thought that if I had suitable a broodmare, I'd love to breed a JM foal. I know lots of the positives but I'm hoping you knowledgeable lot would be able to tell me all the pros and particularly cons of Jaguar Mail offspring. This is in relation to buying a foal rather than putting a broodmare to him.

Thx loads

but I wasn't one bit impressed by his jumping style at the Olympics and would put me off using him as a jumping sire. I think there are far better sires out there.

I think you need to consider the mares as well and what she is like .
The mare has a much bigger input than the stallion.
Most stallions are only as good as the mares they are put to so unless it is a specific enquiry about whether he improves on movement or temperament then you need to go and look at the foal and judge for yourself.
But if the mare cant jump or throws foals with dodgy legs or temperament it could be by any stallion and would still be hopeless.
Just hopeless and over priced

Thanks for that, I haven't yet found out more - there are 4 foals on offer out of different dams (obviously!). I'll find out more on mon about the individuals and dam lines and hopefully get to see some photos. Was just after generic info or experiences people had had.

I realise he's more of a jumping sire and yet he's causing quite a bit of excitement in the eventing world, yet as far as I'm aware there aren't any jaguar mail offspring eventing - are there? Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Any Jaguar Mail offspring would all be in France. I think he has 6/7 year olds that are at the top of their eventing age groups.

Nothing against him at all or his achievements, however, regardless of all the hype, for some reason I have never loved him. In addition, all of the youngsters I have seen by him, whilst nice enough, were never so nice that it made me go...WOW I want one! IMO there are a lot of other more reasonably priced and better out there. Sorry...just my opinion. Again, I stress this is nothing to do with his temperament, type, etc etc just personal preference.

Jaguar Mail and Alligator Fontaine, owned by Haras de Brullemail, France are moving back to France for next season after three years at Flyinge Stud, Sweden. Jaguar Mail covered 333 mares whilst in Sweden so there are quite a lot of his youngest offspring there. Most people seems to be very pleased with them and they have done very well at evaluations so far. Jaguar Mail will be used at stud in France and Alligator Fontaine will be retired from stud duties.
Jaguar Mail will be competed in show jumping by his former rider Patrice Delaveau and their first start is in Oslo this weekend.

Violet you are brilliant - for 2 reasons - firstly and most importantly because my daughter is called Violet and it's the best name in the world ever! and secondly because you're a font of information and very helpful. Thank you very much.
