I have aquired 2 little minis and they have been on the JW puppy food they became very runny with blood in there poo's off to the vets we went and he said to put them on the adult as he suspected they were getting too much protine i mixed a little rice in it,they were also wormed for 3 days ( being wormed when they were 8 weeks with there jabs) they are now 10 weeks, today the little bitch is worse than her brother and so I am taking them off this food and putting them on rice and chicken to harden them up, the questian I wanted to ask really is what do you feed your tinys !! with sensative tummys, my babies are under the vets if a problem arises before you all shout at me GO TO THE vETS !!!!

I have read up about this food and a lot of people have said it do's give dogs the runs !!!
Thnaks.

I'm not too worried about the runny poo, more that there is blood in it! Did the vet not do anything other than talk to you about food?

have you spoken to the vets about the fact it is getting worse, i know wwhere i work we would be requesting you bring them in to be seen as blood in the poo is not a classic sympton of a food intolerance/allergy but can be a sign of far more serious issues. As an owner if the vets did not request seeing the puppy i would be insisting on it.

Did you change them onto JWB?
It isn't usually a food that causes runs and blood is not good. If they were not wormed before you got them I doubt they were fed this?

Which wormer did you use? Does it cover Giardia. If three day it should be Panacur which does do Giardia whch would suggest they have a different problem.

Thanks guys am just going back 2 the vets i am worried and yes they were wormed 3 days with puppy panacure they are both looking good and are full of it i hope they ok.

As you have seen the vet, which would be my first response, I would say to try some probiotics. Was it a lot of blood? Or just enough to be caused by straining?

Natural yoghurt and scrambled egg is what I would start with, I personally don't feed rice.

I would prefer a grain free food such as Simpsons lamb or salmon and potato, or wainwrights salmon and potato. Very small quantities, as overloading will make things worse, little and often.

I don't feed puppy food, mine are raw fed and both litters were raised on a mix of raw and lamb and potato from Simpsons .

Hope they are both well soon x

Panacure does cover guardia, but it has to be an extended treatment I believe. Try to take a sample to the vets to be tested if this has not already been suggested, ( can't check back on phone x )

Please also inform the breeder as if it is guardia it will probably affect the whole litter.

how do know it is diet?
if it is giardia or similar all dogs in the house need to be treated and yes it a prolonged period of treatment.
as both pups are affected then it is more likely to be something they are carrying or have picked up than diet.

Scrambled egg really bungs my boy up! Have you also tried starving them 24 hours? That's always my vets advise before anything else

Good luck

Vet said !! thankyou.

The problem sounds like you changed the diet too quickly - weaning off over a week is usual and not until after the vet has checked them over as just moving home is stressful enough for babies.

Make sure they have plenty to drink and stop switching foods -eggs are another drastic change and soupy rice would have been better -even if mixed with the egg.

How are pups today?

Hi Pups doing well today the bitch is firmer but the little lad is still a little runny but with no blood !! but they did go through the night without mucking there cage up with poo poo but I did get up every 2 hours to help them rather than the 3 hours i have been doing. They are still lively and drinking, thanks for asking xx

UPDATE yipeeee today we are winning given scrambled egg and chicken and hardish poo's also pedigree chum puppy mix (which I normally stear well clear of !! ) with a little yoghurt once a day I do wonder if it was worms, they were wormed when I got them by my vet with a tablet, but they were still bad so we did the puppy panacure, as for the james wellbeloved it is said that it too is made by Pedigree, i will be leaving them on the pedigree bisc. Where I got them from she never even asked my name or address i think now it was a puppy farm, I do believe these little mights are very lucky pups coming to me, thanks so much to everyone who helped me, it worked xx

JWB & Royal Canin (Crown Petfoods) were bought out by Mars who also make Pedigree.

AFAIK seperate divisions under the main Comapny.
