have to interview this person this week. i can find nothing on the web other than the obvious (now rides for hungary and won YR silver medal) but i know HHO will give me some background info if i ask nicely so i am asking!! PM me if you prefer x

iirc he used to be trained by Tim Stockdale, based in Northants. came to my yard to teach a livery once, seemed to know his stuff but left the whole school in a right state so i was a tad miffed! seemed a nice enough lad.

thanks kerrili, the tim stockdale thing good to know and as for the other, i will bear it in mind if ever have an arena to keep tidy!!!

haha sorry, a bit of extraneous info for you there! not really trying to imply that he seemed bone idle and used to having girls tidy up after him...

LOL but as he is a showjumper he probably is. particularly as quite goodlooking so bound to be a few willing to trail round after him`:

Lucky you! He's a very pleasant and articulate young man (he's 26 now). He helped the British team to a Gold Medal in the Young Riders European Championship in 2002, the same year as he won Silver in the Individual. This was with the Spring Master (a mare despite the name) who sadly died last year, at the age of 19 before she could begin her new career as a broodmare. Made his Senior Nations Cup debut that Ocober. Mike Bullman (who used to be British Chef d'Equipe) appreciated his talent, and following the tragicically early death of Joe Turi (Mike's business partner) in 2003, invited him to take over at the Hungarian establishment which Joe had worked hard to develop. He began to represent Hungary in 2006 - it's hard to get regular selection for the British team if you are based far away. It was (in my opinion) a loss to GB - he had been selected (along with Robert Whitaker, to receve funding from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme. He had also been on the BEF World Class programme. He received a training bursary from the Show Jumping Supporters Club - I think in 2001, but it could have been earlier - and I believe he used it for lessons with Tim Stockdale. His mother works for the BSJA.

Thanks SJFAN, i knew you would know i was just checking to see if you were on line so i could ask you!! anyway we did have brief chat in zagreb but i was grooming and he was riding so no time for proper interviews or stuff and i hate being unprepared, particularly when i know zip about showjumping. xx

I met Jamie briefly shortly after the 2002 YR Champs. He came to the SJSC marquee to say how grateful he was for the bursary - saying it had been very encourging to know that people had failth in him. He was delighted to learn that the news of his Silver medal had been announced over the PA at Finmere Show.
