I have a 2.5L Cherokee sport and I love it! We only ever pull one horse with it in a 510 Ifor. We have bigger 4x4 if we take two (Mums M class). But it pulls the one horse fine.
I have a 2.5L Cherokee Renegade and it tows a 16 and a 16.2 together very well. I've had a few problems with the gear box though but that could just be mine, as above it needs servicing often to keep it in good nick.

Not keen. The Grands aren't too bad, but the Cherokees are pretty cramped inside and not very quiet. If you want an unreliable 4x4 get a Discovery!

totally agree...especially the unreliability of a Disovery.
My friend had a cherokee, which we used to tow my big, beaufort sixty rice trailer, with two horses in a few times. It wasn't horrendous, but it struggled at low speeds on hills. They had had it from new, and the gear box went after a few years.
They now have a Grand cherokee, which tows well I think.
I would only recomend the discovery or a range rover for towing a full sized trailer with two horses.
. I haven't personally seen it or anything but the purcahse has been made! They wanted a 4x4 that would be okay to just drive normally, leather seats, low mileage, could tow etc etc. They found that one and decided they wanted it!
If we use it to tow it will probably only be mine and occasionaly my friends horse, we will see how it goes!
