We have two areas in our field which are quite muddy in front of the field shelters/stables by the water trucks troughs. It's the length of the stables so about 24ft long by 7ft.
There was road planings put down about 14 years ago but it's just gone back to mud now.
I was wondering about putting jelka mats down with something like sand or limestone grit on top. Has anyone done this and did it work ok? Also, there seems to be loads of drainage media available, are there any which are best? I was wondering if this would work https://www.dandys.com/products/stabilised-rootzone-sand?variant=55848514257270
But there's so, so many different aggregates/drainage materials
For ref it's these mats I'm considering but obviously couldn't lay them until it's dried up a bit (but would need to do it before summer hose pipe ban type weather also). https://www.gclproducts.co.uk/p/rub...C5qpJsyFStn__KSAdJVJU_9L3AE5GQGgaAqZUEALw_wcB
I think this photo of a very grumpy spotty beast from summer shows the area I mean best. It would literally be the length of the stables up to in line with the trough. Then the same in front of the other pair of stables.
At the moment it is like this

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you .
