Jelka mats for muddy area

We have two areas in our field which are quite muddy in front of the field shelters/stables by the water trucks troughs. It's the length of the stables so about 24ft long by 7ft.
There was road planings put down about 14 years ago but it's just gone back to mud now.
I was wondering about putting jelka mats down with something like sand or limestone grit on top. Has anyone done this and did it work ok? Also, there seems to be loads of drainage media available, are there any which are best? But there's so, so many different aggregates/drainage materials

Ive successfully used ground stableisation rubber mats ontop ofcompacted stone. Theyre not good just on mud as they sink and beak up but if you have a hard base they shoild be ok as mine are. Size i yjink is 2 netres by 1 metre £25.50 from the agriciltudal store.
 
Jelka mats would do the job but the link you gave is to grass mats and they won't. They sink and break up, waste of money. I speak from bitter experience. Jelka mats or Mud Control mats are great. I think but may be wrong that Jelka are much bigger, equal to 4 Mud Control mats and cost about the same as 4 MC. Obviously also weight is similar to 4 MC. I can confirm mud control mats work - I have spent a fortune since my shelter flooded last year

So the entire shelter was laid with them (with a bit of gravel at the back as the sizing didn't quite work and I didn't want to cut the mats). I then laid some old stable mats over the top with a load of aubiose. Before next winter I will get some more stable mats as I want to cover the entire area

We also have laid them outside the shelter so someone can stand there under the roof and there is a single track of them across the bog into the field for my wheelbarrow - except that seems to be horsey access track too.
