Went off to a local riding club HT today to see what we could do.... Jemima has only been XC schooling once and not done more than 3 fences put together so today was quite a big test. Walked the course and wasn't that impressed tbh. I know not all RC's can be expected to have BE quality courses if they are only running a couple of events a year and I am not criticising them

A lot of the fences were not very inviting and fences 2 - 7 was a timed section on a figure of 8... not what I would expect from a novice class and would have preferred to have set her up into a rhythm without having to make twisty turns... fence 5 was a funny looking box fence full of carrots well she clearly thought I was mad and that this was the point in the course where you stopped for a snack

represented her and she jumped fine. Jumped the rest of the course clear but we were very green and lots of our approaches were zig zagged but she was keen and a times a bit strong but was really pleased with her. Not the most stylish round in the history of the world but didn't fall off and that is always a bonus

Imagine my surprise when I found out I had come 4th and was given a rosette!

Time to admit that there was only 10 in the class but I did beat 6 of them.... I only got one rosette the whole of last season with my last horse so this felt very good.
some pictures below - excuse crap riding - was v. tired by the end - that is my excuse I am sticking to it!!
THanks for reading

Thank you! Yes, she thought it was very odd to have jump what was clearly put there for her tea! I saw the photos of your lesson the other day - thought Otto was looking fab and VERY grown up!

Arr, thanks! Somebody told me today that couldn't believe that Otto was the same horse I brought a year ago, which I thought was a compliment.

I wish Otto could jump though, really jump like Jemima can!

I think he does look a different horse. He was always cute but now has a more grown up manliness about him... I think J would like him very much

I think his jumping will come on leaps and bounds now he is working in a more balanced way - as his confidence grows so will his ability. I look forward to reading YOUR HT reports next year

You did brilliantly around a very challenging trappy course! Think you're going to have lots and lots of fun with your gorgeous girly...

And Oi!! She's Goddys G'friend....though suppose he wouldnt mind sharing with the lovely Otto....

Oh, I hope so I really do as I really do enjoy the jumping and XC. Maybe you could get J to give him a few tips!?!

He is only 6 and has only been broken 13/14 months so we still have lots of time to improve, he just isn’t natural athletic I think. But he does try.

That is good news, glad you are so pleased with her, get practicing carrot fences, they appear quite regularly BE! Quite logical of her to think it was a snack bar though. You must be one happy mummy.

Well done!!!!!!!!

Sorry but there is NO way we would have been able to get over th carrots - they are her favorite food in the world!!!!!!!!
