Jenny has been to the vets today for a check up. Its about 2 months since the diagnosis and about 4 weeks since the end of the shockwave treatment.
I wasn't sure what to expect because she hasn't been lame throughout the whole episode and so I had no idea whether she was improving at all.
She has been on light exercise - hacking and gentle schooling and had the easy life for the last 10 weeks or so.
Anyway, he watched me ride her first and said she was 100% sound and tracking up normally. (Previously she wasn't completely tracking up and that was the only sign she had - other than uncharacteristically stopping at fences).
Next he scanned her. Both her ligaments are still a bit enlarged but they are now both exactly the same size whereas last time the right one was much more enlarged than the left. There was scarring present from the injury and a tiny area where the ligament had seperated from the bone. But pretty symmetrical with the left one.
He said to slowly increase her exercise over the next 6-8 weeks but realistically not to start show-jumping until into the New Year.
The plan is only to go back for a check up if there is any change in her progress and he is going to give her a final check up in February. This is only because my insurance will be up for renewal in March and so if there is any chance at all that this is going to go pear-shaped again and that Jen is going to need neurectomies then I want to get that done before the insurance company slap an exclusion on my policy.

So its a bit of a relief in a lot of ways but I don't think I'll be totally relaxed about things until that last check in February. At least I can crack on with my flatwork and start a bit of dressage as the easy life doesn't suit me or Jenny!

Thanks - I know - I'm so impatient but will just have to wait as I don't want to do anything that will set her back in any way. The trouble is Jenny doesn't like resting much either and when she is so keen its hard to make sure we don't do too much. Its been great to see an improvement on the scan though so I know we are making progress.
