Thanks to everyone that replied to my post about Jenny's suspensory injury last week. I spoke to my vet again and he confirmed we are definitely dealing with PSD here .
He also back pedalled a bit about how much exercise Jenny should be getting - which is basically light hacking and horse walker only. (so its a good job I checked! And a good job thats all I'd been doing - I just didn't feel comfortable doing more)
Also Jenny is now booked in to start her first session of shockwave treatment on Thursday and I will be getting more info as to how often she requires it and for how long when I take her.
I feel a lot more comfy with the situation and the treatment now as this seems a more logical approach and certainly more in keeping with my understanding of the problem and with the experiences of most of the people on here.
I also booked Jenny in for some hydrotherapy sessions at the local spa but it seems unlikely that Jenny is going to allow it as she got quite worked up about it yesterday. I can't fault the care and attention that the staff at the unit gave her - walking her on and off, feeding her in the unit, trying her with just a tiny amount of water and building up very gradually. But despite their very best efforts she continued to kick out at the back door of the unit and they were concerned she might injure herself further doing that which kind of defeats the object! Anyway the plan was to take her next week to see if she would settle second time round but I've booked Jenny in for her first shockwave treatment on my day off which I think is more important so will have to see whether I can reschedule the hydro at another time.
So thats basically where we are at now. I am already bored witless without 'proper' riding so I will probably be a gibbering wreck by 6mths time!
