Jerffries IR Bridle

Just had the most exquisite comfort show bridle made by English Bridles after recommend on here. I even emailed a picture of my horse in current bridle and they advised what would be best fitting/looking for chosen discipline (working hunter) Considerably cheaper as well!

OP - I bought a Jeffries IR bridle for my horse. Was not particularly impressed with the quality. Nice enough, but not what I'd expect for that price. Ended up selling it unused as it wasn't a good fit.

I might have a look at English Bridles as well!

Thanks for that fatponee, I'd hate to fork out for it and be unimpressed!

Canteron - if you don't mind me asking, does the headpiece curve away from the ears like on the IR?

I have to admit I cant buy off the peg bridles now as Im never happy with the fit. I like the look of the Sabre Cordoba which you can buy the individual parts for.

Yes it does .... also the noseband sits 'in' the browband at the poll making it very smart indeed! And they also made sure the buckles do up under the eyes which is apparently 'correct'. The website doesn't show everything, so worth a chat and emailing a photo.

Thanks Canteron, I emailed English Bridles with a few questions and I've already had a response and they've offered advice! I think I've been swayed! :)

I dont have a Jeffries IR bridle but i do have another Jeffries bridle and i find them to be well made and leather to be great quality, they don't nessery look the flashy but with proper care mine has lasted yonks. do you have a saddlers near you that supplies them, my local saddlery will do alterations free on a bridle of this price .

Yes Purplestar, I think I will pop to the few local tack shops and see if they have a Jeffries bridle in stock.
The one thing I do like about them is the noseband at the headpiece doesn't look like it will dig in anywhere, whereas on the English bridle it looks maybe like it could, and where the straps attach to the noseband they are sandwiched between it so nothing sticking out whereas on the English bridle they stick out.....or I could just be picky! :o

Now don't get me started on the turmoil I'm experiencing choosing rugs!

Well, I finally got to see a Jeffries bridle... I have to say I wasn't impressed at all :( There was a Stubben bridle, not sure what type as no label and oh my god did it feel divine, totally different class IMO, it was sooooo soft.
However, I've been looking for their "comfort" bridle but the noseband looks awful to me so I have no idea what to do now!

Ive been speaking to Sabre about which bridle to get for my horse. They have been really very helpful. I even emailed them some pictures as most people say with her being a Sec D to go for really chunky - the lady at Sabre agreed I need something a little finer for her and they are going to send out 2 options for me to try. Watch this space!

Thanks all :)
My head is going to explode! I ideally wanted a cut out headpiece but the Cordoba doesn't have that does it? Can anyone who's had one say if it really makes the difference?
Stubben is definitely out as they have only the flash version.
I'm so glad you lot are here, my OH thinks I've lost the plot looking at bridles, god help me if he saw the price.
Will have another look at the Frank Baines whilst he's in the shower! :D

do you mean cut back/shaped round the ears? I think the cordoba one is straight but it is a single piece rather than having the noseband threaded through.

Yes, shaped, thanks :)

I think I've decided on the Albion KB after more googling, however I need to find a local stockist so I can see what it feels like first

I have a Sabre Cordoba bridle, very nice, I am looking to get another one for my youngster.

I like the fact that the noseband does up on both sides and doesn't go up under or over the headpiece, unlike most of the comfort bridles i have seen that have the noseband piece going over the top of the headpiece.

I have the IR for hacking and jumping it is a lovely bridle. Hubby bought it as a Christmas present a few years ago still looks like new x

I have both the Albion KB and the Jeffries IR - I would say that the Jeffries is much chunkier and I found the cut away part a bit more pronounced than the Albion. Both are nice but I prefer the Albion (I only bought the Jeffries because the havana matched my jump saddle).

Just to let you know, I also had an evision comfort bridle and I think it is exactly the same design as the IR. The quality of leather is pretty good for the price too (about the quarter of the price when I bought it but later sold it as didnt need it).
