Went on Friday for a lesson and he work really well, worked out with my trainer what time we would have to leave the next day and realised I would end up leaving mine at 4.30ish so decided it made more sense to stay over and go straight from hers as we were travelling together.
Still a very early start to get the yard done and we left at 5ish.
Got there and walked to course, thought it looked like a very nice PN, apart from the jump before the water, where you had barely a stride before you hit water
Also a few angled skinnies that looked a bit technical.
Warmed up for the dressage and he just felt a bit flat, did some medium trot to try and wake him up a bit, but really think I needed proper spurs on rather than impulse ones.
He did a very sweet test, the trot work was a little fussy but BOTH canter transitions were perfect!
Was over the moon with him as that is what he argues most with. Finished and the general consensus was it was 35ish test, so was shocked to find we got 42.5
Never-mind though, looked at the rest of my section and they seemed quite harshly marked too.
Went down to warm up for the SJing, and he was a bit of an a**e as it was on a slope, I had no steering in the hackamore for some reason, but he did get a bit better with work.
Went in and really rode the thing, had no 4 down as he just touched it but when I walked the course I said he would hit that one
. He jumped the rest clear! So so pleased with him, for J to come out with just 4 faults is fantastic!
Off we went to warm up for the XC, he felt awesome, really full of himself. Shot out the start box like a rocket and pinged no.1, didn't think much of no.2 which was tiny, but flew no.3 and nice brush type thing. Then jumped well into the woods and out again on my chosen line (yes he actually listened to me
) and jumped no. 6 a nice looking skinny very neatly, then brought him back for the angled skinnies which he locked onto and did both on quite a steep angle (not quite as planned!)
Then over a chair and then a nice log into the woods, and out over some rails. The next few flew by and before I knew it we were coming to the dreaded water....
He just tackled it lie a complete pro! Jumped the rolltop before the water on a long one, landed and cantered straight though the water and then out over the skinny afterwards on an angle (again, not quite as planned but he seemed happy enough) So so pleased with him, he didn't even think about hesitating, felt so bold
Then had another before we came to the steps which he bounced nicely down and over a palisade. Then it was over the last to finish clear within the time
Best round again so far (I know I say this every time but he does just get better and better!)
Found it really hard to chose a XC pic as they took some really super ones which I will post the link to as soon as they are up, my face is classic in some of them
Thanks for reading, sorry it was so long!
