well the vet has phoned me. (I haven't any finger nails left!) but it is good news.
he said the x rays didn't show any signs of cruciate damage or any bone damage. He has also x rayed her hips as well. Hips are absolutely fine, so has concluded it must be soft tissue damage.
I'm collecting her at 4pm and she is to have anti infammatories and some pain killers and rest for about 10 days, then re assess.
I am so relieved, but on the other hand am also a bit worried still as nothing "concrete" if you know what I mean.
Thank you everyone for your support and advice.
This forum is so good for help when you need it.
If I ever meet up with any of you I'll have a bottle of wine ready to say thanks.

Great news. If it's any reassurance, when Dax had her accident and dislocated her hip (vet also thought it was cruciate damage until the x-ray so same kind of situation) she was back in full work in under six weeks, pretty much back to normal but steady walks at four weeks and comfortable and weight bearing in 48 hours. Fingers crossed that if it's just muscular it'll be a lot quicker. :)

blackcob, thanks. That is good to hear. She is home now and is putting the leg to the ground, but has had painkillers so I'm not being fooled by it. Lead walks only for at least 10 days, but it could have been so much worse.

Goya!! How fabulous!! I know it's frustrating that it's nothing concrete but YAY that it's none of the serious things it could have been!

Some relatively good news for you at last. Hope she's home soon and getting lots of cuddles. Xxxx

Great news! Just to let you know though, our dog went very very lame a couple of months back (it had been on and off for a while before but we thought she'd just pulled something). Vets treated her for a strain - painkillers, on lead walks for 2 weeks etc. This looked to have improved but, once off the painkillers she went lame again. they x-rayed her, found nothing.

My mum decided to contact the McTimoney guy who does our horses and has treated our older dog in the past. He treated her and diagnosed a issue with her back (towards the hips) - probably a strain. However, because of this she'd been compensating and this caused her to be lame on her front leg.i was not there for the treatment but he found her to be very tight through her shoulders as a result of the back injury and I believe she did yelp a bit as he got the sore spot.

However, no word of a lie, the next day she was sound and has been ever since! He always sprays their gums with some arnica afterwards to help the soreness that they will have after treatment but I was pretty amazed by the results. If the treatment from the vet doesn't work then i would strongly recommend the alternative treatments.

Jess is home and a little sleepy and quiet as she had a GA but ate her chicken and rice dinner.
Flamehead--grateful thanks. dare I ask how Chloe is doing? 100% vibes from myself and Jess, Monty and Skye.
slinkyunicorn--That's a good idea. I have a magnetic collar that was Beau's. I'll get it on Jess.
ladyt25--it is something I am thinking about.
just need to see what happens in the next few days and to find one in my area.
Spudlet--the bank balance is most grateful for the vibes. It certainly needs it, although it is not as bad as having the cruciate op. (at least £400 cheaper!)

Chlo update below. She'll be fine we hope.

Let me know if you think that the magnetic collar makes a difference, I'm interested in one for pup....
