Hi Guys

My oh`s dad took the dogs down the beach yesterday, jess had one of her frisky "I`m a crazy lurcher" moments set out flat out across the beach and through a pool and head first into a rock, she`s torn all her bottom lip and skin attached to her jaw all the way back, there is nothing covering her jaw at all....(gruesome i know)
Vet has stitched it back and has had to stitch around her teeth aswell,
just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else?
What sort of chances do you think she has of it working vet has said if it doesnt they`ll cut it away and leave scar tissue form :(? Personally i want to leave her with the vets for a few days so she`s used to it all and so the vets can keep an eye on her but oh and his dad want her home

Poor thing, hope she feels better soon.

It's amazing how quickly lurchers seem to heal themselves (although the cat is the quickest of all, just thought I'd give you that useless bit of information, lol!) and as long as you don't miss the medicines she'll need and can keep her calm then she should be fine, just don't let her razz around so I'd be keeping her on a lead for now just in case she forgets herself - as lurchers are prone to do.

Typical lurcher, foot on the throttle at all times especially somewhere as exhilerating as the seaside.

Thanks Maesfen :)
Theyre a nightmare for injuries.... one had a thorn puncture his eye two months ago and the other got attacked by a collie and a gaping hole in his side

This is why i tell my OH I prefer "pointless non working dogs" ;):D

Ah poor girlie she is going to be very sore for a while.

We had a cat once that had the same exact thing and my mum used to feed it with a teaspoon. He made a complete recovery but always looked a bit odd as he lost a side of his mouth. Still used to catch rats & mice so no reason why Jess cant be as before.

Good luck & healing vibes.
