JHL Rugs, what company makes them??

Im on a bit of a complaining roll today!

I brought a Jumpers Horse Line fleece rug a short while ago. Now no joke, after 6 times of being worn it is full of holes! Holes have appeared at the seams and where the surcingles attach to the rug. It is of the most rubbish quality I have ever encountered.

The thing is, I have googled them to complain and I dont know who on earth manufactures these rugs?

Does anyone know?

All I know is Jumper's Horse Line is mainly sold through Old Dairy Saddlery, google them, they may be able to help.
With quality issues though, your contract is with the shop you bought it from, return it to them and they should take it up with the supplier.
 
I think they are made by the the same manufacturers as Mark Todd but i wouldnt know how to get in contact with them. i would take it up with the shop who sold it, see what they say.
Sorry to hear the fleece was rubbish as they normally make good rugs from what ive heard. :(
 
Most horse stuff like rugs are made in either china or india and then badged for whichever company has bought them. You need to contact the shop you bought it from.

I have taken it up with the shop I brought it from as it was on their advice that I brought it. However because they dont manufacture it theres no a lot they can do other than say sorry. The shop did say it was Mark Todd, was having a blonde moment and didn't know if the company who uses the Mark Todd brand was called something else. Will just notify the Mark Todd people.

The last JHL rug I brought was aaaaaaaaages ago and it lasted for years! This one no joke is falling to bits. I was so upset when I realised! It was meant to be a nice present for my horse and now thats £30 down the drain and I need to buy another one :(
 
It shouldn't really matter to you which company makes them as you bought the rug from the shop & therefore your contract is with them & it is up to them to replace/refund on the rug. They are passing the buck, just go back to them & ask them for a replacement or refund. If they decline contact Trading Standards & they will pursue the matter.
 
Seriously, it IS up to the shop to take it back and complain to the manufacturer.
If you have problems, get advice from Trading Standards, as you have been sold a rug that was not fit for purpose.
The shop has to take it back.
 
That's a shame because JHL rugs are usually of a very good quality standard, don't be put off just because you've had a badly made one - it can happen! :(
You need to take the rug back to the shop as it's them that need to refund you the money or offer a replacement and not the actual JHL company.

Westgate EFI - JHL are usually good quality for the price so such a shame that you got a bad one. As for imported junk, the only rugs that are not 'imported junk' are FAL, Bucas and Thermatex. Even Rambo's are now made in the East and you can tell.

Agree too many shops use this as a cop out now.
Used to work for a multi million pound DIY store and this is what we were told to tell customers returning faulty goods to contact the manufacturer .When I queried this as contract with shop was told the customer would probably get further than a multi million pound business!Yea right!
 
the shop is in the wrong, i work in a tack shop and whatever we sell that is damaged etc is returned to us and they we contact the rep of the company that we got it from, its then their problem and they contact the manufacturers they got it from!! get a refund from the shop.
 
I've always bought my JHL rugs from Old Dairy Saddlery and not had any quality issues. Having said that I've never bought a fleece. Contact Old Dairy they are usually very helpful.
 
I contacted Horseware in Ireland when I had a rug that didnt wear well and they said I HAD to go through the shop they refused to deal direct. The shop did deal with it and Horseware/ the shop offered a full refund/ replacement.

Could you contact the shop and say the main place has said the same?
Are they allowed to sell that make of rug? I know a tack shop once who wasn't allowed to sell a particular make of rug.
 
I used to work in a shop, so I know a fair bit about consumer rights. You have a legal right to a refund or replacement as the goods are not fit for purpose - don't let the shop fob you off, you can choose to be refunded if you wish.

They might try and get round it by saying that your horse trashed the rugs, but stand your ground and go to your local trading standards office if necessary.

I have JHL fleeces, TOs, sheets, the works and they are NOT imported rubbish, what a dreadful thing to say!

If you are getting holes where the surcingles attach then you need to be very sure that a) it is the right size and b) the straps are not too tight :)

WEFI are the company you want to get in touch with regarding quality control if the shop does not help, and they will be very helpful I am sure :)
