I'm in Australia at the moment and have just booked to do a 5 day 'Jillaroo' course!!

Basically a Jillaroo/Jackaroo for those that don't know work on sheep/cattle stations riding horses, herding cattle/sheep, managing them etc.

So I get to ride everyday I think, do some natural horsemanship, swim with the horses, play games with them, do sheep shearing, cattle herding, learn about Aussie bush tucker and generally have an awesome time!

I'm so excited. I went to a charity shop today and picked up some old jeans and shirts for it.

Now just to book my 6 hour (eek!) train journey up there!

This is the place: http://www.leconfield.com/

I've not ridden for a month and a half since coming out here, I have a lesson booked for next Tuesday and can't wait to get back into the 'horsey scene'!

I worked on a cattle station in the Northern Territory. It was incredibly hard work but I had the best time of my life. Have a look at the Kent Saddlery website; it'll tell you what you'll need and has some handy hints and tips about what to expect and some words you might not have heard before! There's a link on the site for outback jobs too. If you work for three months in agriculture then you're eligible for a second working holiday visa. Enjoy!!

I will take as many photos as possible, I bought a dustproof, shockproof, waterproof camera just for this so fingers crossed it does its job!

I wish I'd found this place sooner and gone to work on a station after, I don't have the time any more, I've planned other things from this point onwards pretty much and leave in May. Next time though!!
