I am so - fed up. Got a call at work from my daughter today, her young TB had rolled close to the fence and got her leg stuck, she wrenched it out and has taken the front of her hind out - rushed home and the vet was able to be out within an hour of her doing it.

On the plus side she has missed her ligament and the artery by millimeters, on the down side he said it wasnt worth even trying to stitch it, she will have to have the skin removed on Friday. If every thing is ok on friday he is going to try a regime of a gel substance, cant remember what it is called but it encourages healing - we just have to hope that there is no damage to the bone leading to bony lumps or any dead bone. Has any one else had a similar experience that can offer solace?

Poor old Sophie (daughter) is so dissapointed. She had lots of problems with this horse when we got her in Feb, she has just about worked through them and is now at the point where the horse is just being a 'normal' young TB, she was supposed to do her first prelim dressage last week and lost a shoe, now PC camp is out of the window too, she could have taken my mare but she is suffering badly with her arthritis.

I am not sure how she will cope with box rest - Why do we have horses!!!!

Oh crap! how horrible. My mare (not PF) pulled the skin off a foreleg (apparently she put her leg through something) from the fetlock down. She had to have an op and was at Rossdales for a month with a cast - she could've come home but there was no one to keep an eye on her at my yard- she actually recovered very well though and the scarring was minimal.
Hope everything goes OK for Sophie! Will be keeping fingers crossed!
