Hi everyone, hoping you can give me some ideas on possible horsey jobs for 14/15 year olds. I previously had a job as a groom at a riding school but when I moved my horse I had to quit. I’m not sure I would want to go back to mucking stables out all day and then being shouted at so I’m wondering if anyone knows any other weekend/ summer jobs. I had thought about trying to get an apprenticeship role as a show photographer but it seems very unlikely! I absolutely loved the teaching and customer interaction side of the riding school and the prep of the ponies but I’m not sure if anyone is willing to pay someone just for that. Really need some money as I need to get out to some competitions which as we all know is rather expensive! Thanks:)

The main thing people will pay a teenager for is poo picking paddocks or ragwort pulling.

I’d go that direction, prove yourself locally and more opportunities may then arise.

Are you on a livery yard now? I used to run a little business when I was 12/13, looking after other liveries' horses at the weekend and tack cleaning. I had three horses that I did regularly every weekend - could you do something like that? It worked because the lady who did livery services on the yard only offered weekdays :)

I am but it’s full livery- I’m not sure I would be allowed by the yard owner!
