So I have booked me and Bodey for 4 days of ‘Adult Pony Club Camp’, at the end of July at Plumpton College. I’m really excited but a bit nervous as I have never been to one before.

So has anyone else been to one of these? If so how was it? What should I expect? Any tips on things to take etc.?

Just hope me and Bodey are good enough????!!!????

Well I hope so! They have Jump Cross which I have never done before, and two different XC courses, so I don’t think we are going to be bored. Just hope we can keep up with everyone else, but the lady who is organising it said you can do as little or as much as you like.
It will certainly be an experience for me and Bodey going away on our own!!

I'm off to RC camp on Monday for 4 days so I will tell you what it's like when I get back. Am fully expecting to be pretty rubbish but confident that I can only improve if I start at the bottom of the class

I took my horse to a Horsecamp a couple of years ago. We did s/j and xc, the groups were of people of similar standard (2 or 3 people in a group) so there was no feeling bad about not being good enough etc. Eg one group were just working over poles, one jumping 3' + etc.

Don't forget to take tea bags! had withdrawal symptoms until OH was good enough to drive out with rescue supplies.

I'm off to the same place as Ethel on Monday (some of you may have noticed us mention this before...

), it's our riding club's annual camp held at Stockland Lovell in Somerset. I went to the first one the RC held two years ago, and before that I had been to my PC branch's camp at SL as well. The first RC camp was absolutely brilliant, best fun I'd had in ages! We go for four days, on the first day we travel over in the morning then unload and settle in before our first riding session. We get six sessions, and a choice of hacking, flatwork, SJ, gridwork or XC. The instructors there are fab as well. On the second and third days there are two riding sessions each day, and the fourth is one session in the morning and travelling home in the afternoon. It's really exhausting but really good fun, not everyone rides at the same time so we get to watch everyone else too. In always thought the best bit was 3pm tea and cakes! In the evenings we all sit in the common room bit and drink wine and chat, it's a really good way to get to know people as well even if you are all in the same RC.
I can NOT wait until Monday, that's how much fun I think it is!

Have fun!

please can you let us all know how you got on as I have got a weekend rally with Riding Club begining of June and have never been on anything like that before. Hints on what is useful to take/ what is needed all gratefully received. Enjoy yourselves !

How cool! I saw that too and would have loved to have gone but the thought of doing XC on axey fills me with fear!

But, Mandy is doing a 4 day dressage thing at her place in august which I'm going to, can't wait for that

Plumpton's not far from me, I might have to pop down and see you one day!

Ethel can vouch for the fact that you do NOT want to ask me what you need to take - my list is HUGE!! I heard it on the grapevine that Ethel was in fact taking the mick out of me having to take two different sets of over-reach boots in two different colours! Nothing wrong with that, is there?!

I don't want my white dressaging ones getting ruined out hacking and wading through the lake!
I have a list of stuff I'm taking on my computer, if you want the shortened list you're more than welcome to PM me

For God's sake do NOT pm Silmarillion for her list - it's basically an inventory of the Rideaway catalogue. You'll need an articulated lorry (and a second mortgage) if you copy what S is taking

Ethel's list comprises (in order of priority)

Horse
Wine
Tack/rugs/boots
Grooming/tack cleaning stuff
Clothes
Mucking out stuff
Feed & buckets
Phone
Camera
More wine
Sweeties

See, that WOULD be my list if I wasn't bound to forget something really simple (like a girth, or my riding boots, or an arm or leg...) !!
The embarrassing bit is when you get half way there only to realise you've forgotten something and you hadn't even put it on the list

PASSPORT is always a good one to go on the list!

Oh do you have any details of that? I'm not doing the summer camp on Ru as we're just not ready but dressage only may be fun?!
