Well to quote another post here ' complete pants'! 1st judge forgot to turn up so we'd warmed up ready to go and then had to hang around for about 30 mins waiting for another judge to turn up. So cue one completely switched off and fed up pony who did what I thought was an ok test under the cirumstances but the judge obviously didn't agree, then more hanging around waiting for the 1st judge to turn up to jusge the 2nd class if that makes sense cos they swapped judges and classes. Got 1 minutes warning (typically while I ran off to go to the loo) so jumped straight on and did probably the worst test in my life, he just wouldn't give me anything at all even when he got a good smack in the arena for not listening. So one of those put down to experience days. The saddle was also slipping sideways and was evidently not comfortable so I have made the decision that I am not doing anymore dressage until my new saddle arrives. Patrick has the physio again this week so hopefully another session of that and a new saddle will help both of us. I am going to concentrate on the sidesaddle again for the time being I think, as I have a show in 2 weeks for that.
Not my best day either!!!
I wasn't as badly effected as JoC with the judges runing late as I was 30 mins into the class, so I got off Q (after about 10mins warm up) & got back on when Jo had done her 1st test.
However Q was feeling very lazy. He did an Ok first test. Great start but then went behind my leg & I felt i was working twice as hard as him
I think it looked better than it felt. He got 62.5% & came 4th but I know he can go so much better, so wasn't happy with him.
My instructor then suggested taking off my spurs & not carrying the whip
to see if just using my legs & seat would help. The answer was a definate NO!!!! He was sooo lazy (the cheaky monkey) and I could have stopped half way & retired as I was working so hard & he wasn't! Needless to say, not a good mark & we wont be repeating that experiment again.
I feel better now than I did sat, but Q will be spending the next 2 weeks (before our next outing at Hastingwood) realising that when I put my leg on I mean go!! I think I'll also do some poles & a bit of jumping to getting him a bit inspired again
Quarrybank - don't think anyone had a good day as there was lots of spooking going on in the far end of the arena as well. Lots of fed up neddies I think. Still now have to tone up the muscles for sidesaddle and forget about BD for a bit.
I know what you mean. I was fed up on Sat but much more chilled about it now. Onwards & upwards!!!!
Good luck with your side saddle & I'll hopefully see you out & about at BD soon. x.
I am still fed up about it to be honest, as although NH did their best, you are hardly going to get a good test when you have no idea when the judge is going to get there. No one's fault but annoying all the same. I have however put it half down to my saddle really not fitting so thats why I have decided to give it a rest until the new saddle appears. At least then when it goes badly I've only got myself to blame!
