I hope that this is not related to another report of a jockey having a car accident over the weekend. In that case the jockey has a history of problems that he has tried hard to overcome.

And if it is the same one, I personally think it’s worrying they were allowed to be race riding on Monday, given their history. I’d have thought the BHA might have enforced a suspension even for a few days given the circumstances.

Interestingly he is riding in The Belmont Derby at Saratoga Springs NY ÙSA tomorrow and has to be back for the Sandown card Saturday morning. So probably went straight from court to wherever the private jet is parked to fly to Albany NY which is the nearest airport to Saratoga Springs. Expensive jaunt as the plane will need two sets of pilots as the outbound pilots will be out of flying hours to do the return flight. Qatar racing is apparently struggling so I wonder who picks up the tab.
It is not possible to do this journey commercially in the time frame available!!

Do you think that is net so after tax and expenses so travel etc? The other figure was mentioned as net.

I wondered about it being a net figure but even so he had 11 rides last weekend on just the saturday and sunday. He's a popular jockey who rides a good number of winners and as above is also the rider for the Qatar string for which he will be paid a retainer on top of his riding fees.

I hope he gets help with his problem but equally the safety of other jockeys in races and stable staff when riding work in the mornings must be considered as this isn't a first offence for him.

Now champion jockey again - he should be working hard to set a good example to other jockeys.

Both OM and Sean Levey criticised heavily by the judicial panel.

Racing is doing well in that they respond fairly quickly to breaches of rules.
