Hey guys,

I'm desperately in need of some new jod boots as the sole is attached to mine by only the thinnest of margins (and since the rain has now started my feet are getting wet!). I did have some Saxon equi-leather ones which weren't too bad but I've got some vouchers for Rideaway so thought I could up the budget to up to £50-60. I need them to ride in and do yard work (but not masses, just a bit in the evening and I do have wellies for when it gets really bad). So they need to be durable but also look good with a pair of leather half chaps for hunting etc. Any recommendations for ones that may survive the winter?

Cheers

How about these?

Not sure if these are smart enough for hunting, they do them in brown or black, but I'd think they'll be up to the job you need them for. I bought them this summer and have lived in them not just for riding but walking the dog, walking anywhere, driving, everything. Other than when I wear a shoe and smarter trousers than jeans, I'm in these. They were the first I found I could get my foot into (high instep fat ankle and wide foot)
Dublin Sprirt Leather Boots

They're waterproof enough to walk into a shallow ford to rescue a pony - the tops by the zip just got damp, sturdy enough to put out a fire without melting, and strong enough to withstand a Sec A treading on your foot, removing as asked then stepping back on without bruising, amongst the many tasks mine have been asked to do and they're still fine.

I got them in brown they were under £40 and they look fine with a pair of brown leather half chaps I found in a tack shop for £20.

(And no, I don't work for Dublin)

Ariats are good, but the zips are dodgy, the zip on my ariats broke after 2 months. I had to cut my foot out of them, then ariat would.t replace them because they said I had damaged them on purpose because I had cut them! What did they want me to do? Chop my foot off and send it to ariat still in the boot, so I didn't damage the already broken zip anymore?!?! I know i'm not the only person to have probs with ariat zips, so wouldn't buy another pair. Although they are very comfy, so it's really annoying coz I actually really liked them!

I love my Ariats - how about looking for a second hand pair, mine are 6 months old and I live in them!
Oh and the zips are going strong despite being soaked, muddied and unloved
